In this guide

01 · The core answer

Will Mounjaro put me off drinking?

It might. Many people find their desire for alcohol drops on treatment, but the effect varies and you cannot count on it.1 Mounjaro is licensed for weight management and type 2 diabetes, so it is not a treatment for alcohol dependence.

Tirzepatide activates two natural gut-hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1, which help regulate appetite. Most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals.1

02 · Your next step

What should you do if it does or doesn't?

If your cravings drop, enjoy it but keep the basics in place: eat protein, stay hydrated and keep moving. If nothing changes, the usual rule applies: moderation is the sensible approach. If you are worried about how much you drink, speak to your GP or prescriber rather than relying on a weight-loss medicine.

03 · Alcohol safety

Drinking safely on Mounjaro

There is no direct interaction between Mounjaro and alcohol, but drinking on a reduced appetite and emptier stomach can hit harder than usual, and alcohol adds calories that work against your goals.1 So you may feel the effects sooner than before.

If you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea, alcohol increases the risk of low blood sugar. Talk to your prescriber about this. The injection and alcohol covers timing questions.

04 · Food and smoking

Does it put you off food?

Food, yes: most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals.1 No food is banned, but very fatty, fried or very sugary food makes many people feel worse, and smaller, slower meals work better. Include protein at each meal.

Drinking enough fluid also matters, because reduced appetite means less fluid from food.

05 · Where to get help

Getting support

Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, and used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Individual results vary.1

Our weight loss clinic includes ongoing monthly reviews, so you can raise changes in appetite or drinking with the prescribing team. See also how Mounjaro affects drinking.

06 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Start your free consultation

Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.

Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
What happens if you have alcohol while on Mounjaro?
There is no direct interaction, but drinking on a reduced appetite and emptier stomach can hit harder than usual. Alcohol also adds calories. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea, alcohol increases the risk of low blood sugar, so speak to your prescriber.
Do weight loss injections put you off alcohol?
Many people find their desire for alcohol drops on Mounjaro, but it varies and is not a licensed effect. Some notice no change at all. If you are concerned about your drinking, speak to your GP or prescriber.
Does Mounjaro stop alcohol cravings?
Not reliably. Many people report a lower desire to drink on treatment, but this is not certain and Mounjaro is not licensed for alcohol problems. Do not use it as a treatment for dependence; seek advice from your GP.
How many drinks can you have on Mounjaro?
Moderation is the sensible rule, because alcohol can hit harder on an emptier stomach. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea, ask your prescriber for personal advice.
What alcohol is suitable to drink on Mounjaro?
No drink is banned, but alcohol adds calories that work against your goals, and sugary or fatty choices often sit badly. Moderation matters most.
Does Mounjaro put you off food?
Yes, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet. Because appetite is lower, include a protein source at every meal and keep fluids up.
Can I eat bananas while taking Mounjaro?
Yes. No food is banned on Mounjaro, including bananas. Prioritise protein, vegetables, fibre and regular fluids, and choose smaller, slower meals if large portions sit heavily.
