How ordering works in three steps

Ordering takes three steps. Complete the free online consultation, a short health questionnaire with no charge and no obligation. Second, a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews your answers. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. Third, our registered pharmacy dispenses your pen, with same-day dispatch when you order by 3pm and free next-day tracked delivery in discreet, temperature-controlled packaging.

04 · What Mounjaro is

What is Mounjaro and how is it supplied?

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.¹ It is a prescription-only medicine, so it can only be supplied after a consultation reviewed by a prescriber.

It comes as a pre-filled, multi-dose pen called a KwikPen, in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.¹ Because the pen is the unit most pharmacies sell, 'in stock' for Mounjaro really means which strengths of pen a provider can send you. Someone starting treatment normally needs the lowest strength first, which is why availability of the 2.5mg pen matters most to new patients. People already on treatment need their current strength, and those moving up need the next one.

That is why we stock all six strengths rather than only a starter pen. A provider that lists only a few doses can leave you stuck partway through your treatment plan. Our own pens are genuine KwikPens supplied through official LillyDirect channels, directly from Eli Lilly's UK distribution.

05 · How it works

How does Mounjaro work?

Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1.¹ Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin. In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.

This dual action is what distinguishes Mounjaro from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy and Ozempic). It is a description of mechanism, not a promise of how any one person will respond, and Mounjaro works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.

Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days. After a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.¹

Your prescriber decides the starting dose and the pace of any increases, and reviews how you are getting on. We include ongoing monthly clinical reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments with the prescribing team, plus side-effect support, so you are not left to work it out alone.

06 · Who can get it

Who can get Mounjaro from a pharmacy?

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. Examples include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.¹ It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

A prescriber will assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable for you.¹¹ That assessment is the reason a pharmacy cannot simply hand you a pen because it has one on the shelf. A genuine pharmacy treats stock and suitability as separate questions: even when a dose is available, the prescriber decides whether it is right for you.

On our service the review is carried out by a GPhC-registered prescriber, not a scoring script. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. That protects you from paying for something you cannot be supplied with.

07 · NHS or private

NHS or private: where can you get Mounjaro?

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition.⁴ The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.⁶

Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. The two routes are not rivals: some people start privately and later move to NHS care if they qualify, and some use the NHS from the outset. Your GP is the right person to ask where you currently sit in the local rollout. The NHS also publishes a general guide to the medicine.⁵

The practical difference is time and criteria. NHS access depends on meeting the NHS thresholds and on how far the rollout has reached in your area. Private treatment follows the wider licensed criteria, so more adults can be considered, and supply is not tied to a local waiting list.

In both cases the safety framework is the same: a prescriber reviews you, and the medicine is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. A private pharmacy should never ask you to skip that review. If a seller offers to supply without a consultation or prescription, that is a warning sign, not a convenience.

If you are unsure which route fits, a sensible approach is to ask your GP about NHS eligibility and, in parallel, read what the private licensed criteria require. Then you can make the choice with both facts in hand rather than relying on a pharmacy's marketing.

08 · What results look like

What do the trials say about results?

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks. The comparison group, using lifestyle changes alone, lost 3.1%.²

These are trial averages. Individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them. Trial averages do not predict your own result, so treat them as a picture of what the medicine did across a large group, not a target.

At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20% of their body weight.²

To make the percentages concrete: for someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. That is straight arithmetic on the trial average, not a forecast for any individual, and it says nothing about how quickly the weight would come off.

Why does this matter for choosing a pharmacy? Because the doses in that trial are the same strengths you will see on a pharmacy shelf: 5mg, 10mg and 15mg appear in the result figures, and the full ladder runs from 2.5mg to 15mg. Treatment starts at the lowest strength, and your prescriber decides whether and when to step up.

It also explains why reliable supply across the dose range counts. Someone who reaches a higher strength needs the matching pen available when it is time to reorder, rather than discovering a gap. Nobody can tell you in advance what you will lose, and any pharmacy that promises specific results should be treated with caution. A good provider talks about suitability, review and support, and leaves the numbers to the trials.

09 · Spotting genuine supply

How to check a pharmacy is genuine

Check three things before paying anyone for Mounjaro: the pharmacy is on the GPhC register, it requires a consultation reviewed by a prescriber, and it can say where its pens come from. The GPhC public register lets you search for a registered pharmacy by name or number.¹² Ours is registration 9012878, and you can check it on the GPhC register.

Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. A website that sells pens as if they were a supplement, or that offers to supply without a consultation or prescription, is not operating as a regulated pharmacy. The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts and runs the Yellow Card scheme, and it is worth knowing both exist.⁷

Next, look at supply. We source Mounjaro through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution, and all pens are genuine KwikPens. A pharmacy that cannot or will not explain its supply chain leaves you to guess.

Finally, think about what happens if something goes wrong. Planning the cost beyond the first pen

Stock gets you the first pen, but treatment runs for months, so it helps to plan the full cost. These are our standard prices before discounts, and a new customer's first order is £40 less, with every later order £25 less.

A first year costs £2,399.88 if you settle at 5mg, up to £3,279.88 at 15mg. If you settle at a different maintenance dose, work from the monthly price: £244.99 for 7.5mg, £274.99 for 10mg and £289.99 for 12.5mg.

Remember that the dose you end up on is a clinical decision, not a budget one. Your prescriber reviews your progress and tolerability, and the right dose is the one that suits you.

The pay-monthly options and Klarna can spread the cost, and there is no subscription lock-in, so you can stop reordering whenever you and your prescriber agree. Because repeat orders re-check suitability and nothing auto-ships, you are never committed to a pen you do not want.

11 · Delivery and aftercare

Delivery, storage and aftercare

Same-day dispatch applies when you order by 3pm, and delivery is free, next-day and tracked through DPD. Pens travel in discreet, temperature-controlled packaging, which matters because Mounjaro pens are stored in the fridge. Saturday delivery is £14.99.

Once a pen arrives, store it in the fridge until first use; unopened pens keep until the printed expiry date. For any question about how long an unopened pen can be out of the fridge, read the patient information leaflet and ask us rather than guessing.¹³ Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days after first use, and must then be thrown away; do not use a pen that has been above 30°C or frozen.¹ Follow the pen's instructions for the injection itself.

Aftercare is where a pharmacy differs from a shop. Our prescribing team provides ongoing monthly reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments, and side-effect support. If you ask about foods, medicines you take or symptoms that worry you, the answer should come from your prescriber and the patient information leaflet, not from forum threads. Report suspected side effects through the Yellow Card scheme.¹⁹

How to compare pharmacies with Mounjaro in stock

Compare pharmacies on five points: dose range, price, review process, delivery and aftercare. Stock alone tells you very little, because a pharmacy can list a pen and still be a poor fit if the review is thin or the delivery is slow.

Dose range comes first. If you may need to step up, make sure the provider can supply the whole ladder, from 2.5mg to 15mg. We hold all six strengths, so your plan is not interrupted by a missing pen.

13 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.¹
