Can You Take Fat Burners With Mounjaro? (October 2026)
We do not recommend taking over-the-counter fat burners with Mounjaro. They add no proven benefit to a licensed treatment, many contain stimulants, and they can worsen the stomach side effects people already notice. Dosing in supplements is not standardised and there is no clinical oversight. If you are already taking one, speak to your prescriber or pharmacist before continuing.

In this guide
01 · The decision
Should you add a fat burner to Mounjaro?
No, you should not. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) activates GIP and GLP-1 receptors, which help regulate appetite and slow how quickly the stomach empties.1 A fat burner is trying to do something your medicine already does, but with far less evidence and no clinical oversight.
The main practical risks are overlapping side effects. Stimulant-type ingredients can cause jitteriness and poor sleep, and many products can upset the stomach, which is already the area where Mounjaro makes itself felt. If you have a racing heart, chest pain or fainting, get medical help straight away. Because ingredient lists and strengths are not standardised, you also cannot be sure what you are taking.
02 · Next step
What to do instead
Focus on the things that are proven to matter. Mounjaro is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and individual results vary.2 If progress feels slow, ask your prescriber about your dose rather than reaching for a supplement. Our weight loss clinic explains how reviews work, and you can see the Mounjaro pen and consultation if you are not yet a patient.

03 · Why stimulants are a poor fit
Why fat burners are a poor fit
Mounjaro is licensed in the UK for weight management and type 2 diabetes, and it comes in six strengths from 2.5mg to 15mg.1 Fat burners are not licensed medicines. Their claims are often dramatic, but they are not backed by the trial evidence that supports tirzepatide.
Tell your prescriber about any new symptom after starting a supplement, such as worse nausea. If you have palpitations or a racing heart, get medical help straight away. You can also report suspected side effects through the Yellow Card scheme.19
04 · What the evidence supports
What the evidence supports
In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages, and individual results vary.
05 · Serious side effects
Serious side effects: when to get help straight away
Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1
06 · Tell your prescriber
Tell your prescriber about supplements
Our prescribing team carries out ongoing monthly reviews, so mention any supplement, herbal product or over-the-counter remedy you use. For other everyday medicines, see our guides on Nurofen and Rennies with Mounjaro.
How ordering works
How ordering works at EverydayMeds
Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.
Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes
Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.
Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day
A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.
Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery
Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.
Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.
Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.
