In this guide
01 · The core answer
Is hair loss from Mounjaro something to worry about?
For most people, no. The SmPC lists hair shedding among the common side effects, affecting up to 1 in 10 people.1 In the weight-management trials, 4.9% of people on tirzepatide reported hair loss, against 1.0% on placebo.1
That means the large majority of people did not report it. Where it does happen, it is described as temporary shedding that is linked to rapid weight loss rather than the drug directly damaging hair.1
02 · Your next step
What should you do if you are thinking of starting?
Hair shedding should not by itself rule treatment out, but it is fair to weigh it up. Mounjaro is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 to 30 with a weight-related condition, alongside a reduced-calorie diet and more activity.1 A prescriber assesses your history before deciding if it suits you.
If you want to go ahead, you can start your free consultation, reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. You can also see our Buy Mounjaro page, or the Mounjaro pen prices and consultation page.
03 · Why shedding happens
Why hair shedding happens on Mounjaro
The product information links hair shedding to rapid weight loss itself rather than a direct effect of the drug.1 Losing weight quickly is a big change for the body, and hair is one place it can show.
That is also why this is not unique to one medicine. Any method that produces significant weight loss can have this effect, and the same logic applies to changes in facial volume or loose skin after quick weight loss.
Eating less overall can also make nutrition matter more. Protein intake and overall nutrition are important, which is another reason your reduced-calorie diet should stay balanced.1 Our guide on how much weight loss from Mounjaro explains the trial averages and why pace varies.
04 · Will it grow back?
Will hair loss from Mounjaro grow back?
For most people the shedding settles as weight stabilises, so it is described as temporary.1
For more detail, see our pages on whether Mounjaro hair loss is temporary, whether it is reversible, whether it comes back, and whether hair loss from GLP-1 medicines is permanent.
05 · What may help
What can you do about it?
Keep your nutrition balanced, with attention to protein, while you follow a reduced-calorie diet.1 A loss pace guided by your prescriber, rather than maximum speed, is one way to protect lean mass.
If you are worried, ask your prescriber or pharmacist for advice that fits your history.
Tell your clinical team about new or worsening symptoms, and you can report any suspected side effect through the Yellow Card scheme.19
06 · Other side effects
How hair loss fits with other side effects
Most Mounjaro side effects are digestive. Nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, constipation and abdominal discomfort affect more than 1 in 10 people, while hair shedding sits in the common group alongside indigestion, dizziness, reflux and injection-site reactions.1
Injection-site reactions were reported by 8.0% on tirzepatide against 1.8% on placebo in the same trials.1 Side effects are most likely when starting or moving up a dose, and for most people they ease within days to a few weeks.1
If you stop treatment, tirzepatide takes roughly 4 to 5 weeks to clear the system. Our page on whether you can get withdrawals from Mounjaro covers what to expect.
07 · Our support
Support while you are on treatment
We are a GPhC-registered UK online pharmacy (registration 9012878). Treatment is supplied directly through official LillyDirect supply, and ongoing monthly clinical reviews are included, with side-effect support from the prescribing team.
Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. Delivery is free next-day tracked, and same-day dispatch applies when you order by 3pm. All six doses are in stock.
08 · Serious side effects
Serious side effects: when to get help straight away
Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1
How ordering works
How ordering works at EverydayMeds
Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.
Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes
Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.
Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day
A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.
Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery
Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.
Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.
Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.
