What should you look for in a Mounjaro pharmacy?

A good pharmacy for Mounjaro is one you can verify, not one that tops a list. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, so the safest choice is a registered pharmacy that supplies genuine pens, reviews you properly and stays involved as your dose changes.

Lists of "top pharmacies" are usually opinion, and they change fast. Instead of trusting a ranking, test any provider, including us, against these criteria. A provider that passes every row is a reasonable choice. One that fails the first three should be ruled out whatever its price.

03 · Checking a pharmacy is genuine

How do you check a Mounjaro pharmacy is genuine?

Look the pharmacy up on the GPhC register before you share any health information. Every legitimate UK pharmacy, online or on the high street, has a registration number, and the register is public.¹² If the seller has no number, or the number does not match the business name and website, walk away.

Then check the process. Mounjaro is prescription-only, so a genuine service asks for a consultation and has a prescriber review it before dispensing. Be cautious of anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription, however polished the website looks. Social media sellers, messaging-app traders and sites with no named pharmacy fall into this group.

The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts and runs the Yellow Card scheme, where you can report suspected fake products and side effects.⁷ It is worth knowing about before you buy from anyone you cannot verify.

A few practical warning signs:

• No GPhC number, or one you cannot find on the register.
• No questions about your medical history or current medicines.
• Dramatic weight-loss claims or promises of specific results.
• Pens, vials or powders that are not the branded KwikPen.
• Pressure to pay quickly by bank transfer or gift card.

04 · Is Mounjaro right for you?

Who can be prescribed Mounjaro?

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. Those conditions include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.¹

A good pharmacy assesses all of this properly. A prescriber will look at your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether Mounjaro is suitable. That is why a pharmacy that approves everyone is not a good sign.

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable medicine made by Eli Lilly. It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose KwikPen in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.¹ A pharmacy that stocks the full range lets you move up the doses, or stay on the one that suits you, without changing provider.

It works by activating two gut-hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1. Together they help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties and improve the way the body responds to insulin. Most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals.¹

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.² For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. These are trial averages and individual results vary. The medicine works alongside diet and activity, not instead of them.

Read the patient information leaflet for any pen you are prescribed.¹³ A reputable pharmacy will point you to it and answer questions.

05 · Delivery and cold chain

What should delivery look like?

Good delivery is tracked, discreet and temperature-controlled, because Mounjaro pens are kept in the fridge until first use. Our deliveries go by DPD, are free and next-day, and use temperature-controlled packaging. If you order by 3pm, we dispatch the same day. Saturday delivery is available for £14.99.

Ask any provider what happens if you are out when the parcel arrives, and whether the packaging is designed to protect the pen. For unopened pens, the rule is simple: keep them in the fridge until first use, and they keep until the printed expiry date. If a parcel arrives and you are unsure about its condition, check the patient information leaflet and contact the pharmacy rather than guessing.

A pharmacy that cannot tell you how it ships a cold-chain medicine is not one to rely on for months of treatment.

06 · Aftercare and repeat orders

Why does aftercare matter more than the first order?

Mounjaro is a course of treatment, so the pharmacy you choose is a long-term partner and aftercare should be part of the offer. We include ongoing monthly reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments by the prescribing team, and side-effect support. Repeat orders re-check your suitability, and nothing is shipped automatically.

That last point is a useful test. Automatic shipping can look convenient, but it means nobody is asking how you are getting on before the next pen goes out. We have no subscriptions: you order when you need to.

07 · NHS or private?

Can you get Mounjaro on the NHS instead?

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.⁴⁶

Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. If you think you may qualify, ask your GP first. Choosing a private pharmacy does not stop you doing that.

If you have type 2 diabetes, Mounjaro is also licensed for that condition, so speak to your GP or diabetes team about what NHS options apply to you.⁵

08 · Tablets and other options

What about Foundayo and Wegovy tablets?

Foundayo (orforglipron) and Wegovy tablets are oral GLP-1 treatments with their own UK product information, and they are different medicines from Mounjaro.²⁰²¹
