Two people on the same dose can have very different experiences, so treat reviews as evidence about the service, not the drug.

A better approach is to build your own checklist. First, is the provider on the GPhC register? Second, is there a real consultation reviewed by a prescriber? Third, what do recent reviews say about delivery and support? If the first two fail, the star rating is irrelevant.

05 · Reading star ratings

How to read Trustpilot star ratings for Mounjaro providers

A star rating is an average, and averages hide the useful detail. Start with the date. A provider with strong reviews from a year ago and a run of recent complaints is a different business from the headline score. Sort by most recent and read at least the latest few pages before deciding anything.

Next, look at the spread. A provider with a high average but a visible cluster of 1-star reviews all describing the same problem deserves more attention than one with scattered, unrelated complaints. Repeated themes are signal; one-off grievances are noise. Read the one-star reviews specifically for what went wrong and whether it was fixed.

Then check whether the company replies. A reply that names the issue, gives a way to resolve it and arrives within days shows a functioning support team. Copy-pasted replies that never address the complaint are less reassuring. Equally, a company that never responds at all leaves you guessing how it will treat you when something goes wrong with your own pen.

Be careful with very short reviews such as "great service" or "awful". They say little about what you actually need to know: how long dispatch took, whether a prescriber was reachable, and how a problem was handled. The most helpful reviews describe a specific event, such as a delayed parcel or a question about a dose, and then how the provider dealt with it.

Finally, remember that reviews of a medicine and reviews of a seller are different things. Someone who is unhappy with how slowly their weight changed is not necessarily describing a service failure. Likewise, a glowing review of a pharmacy says nothing about whether you personally are suitable for tirzepatide. That judgement belongs to a prescriber reviewing your history, not to a star count. The service themes worth testing in any review

Reviews of online weight-loss pharmacies tend to be about a handful of practical themes, so use these as a checklist when you read. Rather than assuming what any provider's reviews say, check each one against what you actually find.

Dispatch and delivery. Mounjaro is a medicine supplied in temperature-sensitive packaging, so how a provider ships matters. Look for reviews that mention tracked delivery, packaging and what happened when a parcel was late. 07 · Red flags and verification

Red flags: how to verify a Mounjaro seller before you trust its reviews

Reviews can be gamed, so verify the seller independently. The first step takes a minute: search the pharmacy on the GPhC public register, which lists registered pharmacies and pharmacy professionals.¹² If a seller will not give a registration number, or the number does not match the name and website, do not buy.

Second, be wary of anyone offering to supply a prescription-only medicine without a consultation or prescription. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. A seller who skips that step is not following the rules that protect you.

Third, take counterfeit medicines seriously. The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts and runs the Yellow Card scheme for reporting problems.⁷ Buying from a GPhC-registered pharmacy with a clear supply chain is the practical protection. Fourth, look at how the reviews themselves read. Be cautious where you see a burst of near-identical five-star reviews posted close together, praise that mentions results but not service, or reviews that promise specific outcomes. Dramatic weight-loss claims in a review are a reason to be more sceptical of that review, not less.

Fifth, check the price is plausible and consistently displayed. A price far below what other regulated providers show is worth questioning.

None of these checks takes long, and together they do more than any star rating. Once a provider passes them, reviews become a helpful second layer rather than your only protection.

08 · What reviews cannot show

What reviews cannot show: results from the clinical trials

No review can tell you how much weight you will lose, and a review of weight change is not a trial. Evidence on weight loss comes from controlled studies. In SURMOUNT-1, a trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.²

These are trial averages, and individual results vary. At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20% of their body weight.² Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.

As a worked example, for someone starting at 100 kg, 15% is about 15 kg and 20.9% is about 21 kg. That is straight arithmetic on the trial percentages, not a promise or a timeline, and trial averages do not predict your own result.

This matters when reading reviews. A reviewer who lost less than the trial average is not evidence the medicine or the pharmacy failed. A reviewer who lost more is not evidence you will.

Useful reviews of outcomes are those that talk about experience of the process, such as how the prescriber reviews felt, whether dose changes were explained and whether side effects were addressed.

09 · What Mounjaro is

What Mounjaro is and how it works

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.¹ It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen (KwikPen) in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.¹

Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin.¹ In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet. This dual action distinguishes Mounjaro from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy/Ozempic).

Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4 to 5 weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.¹

Knowing the mechanism helps you separate effects of the medicine from effects of a pharmacy. Appetite changes come from how the drug works. Late parcels come from the courier. Mixing the two leads to the wrong conclusions about both.

10 · Eligibility and NHS access

Who can take Mounjaro, and the NHS versus private picture

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.¹ It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. A prescriber will assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable.

This is why a review that says "I was approved" or "I was declined" tells you little about your own case. Eligibility is individual, and a legitimate provider will sometimes say no. If a consultation is declined with us, you are refunded automatically in full.

On the NHS, Mounjaro is available, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions).⁴⁶ Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.

When you read reviews of private providers, check what the reviewer is describing: the NHS pathway and the private pathway have different waiting times, costs and processes. A complaint about a wait may refer to one while praise refers to the other. Compare like with like, and look at all weight loss treatments if you are weighing options beyond Mounjaro.

11 · Early weeks and safety

The early weeks: what reviews describe and what to check with a prescriber

Like all medicines, Mounjaro can cause side effects, and most are digestive. The most common — affecting more than 1 in 10 people — are nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, constipation and abdominal discomfort. Side effects are most likely when starting treatment or moving up a dose, and for most people they ease within days to a few weeks as the body adjusts. Read the patient information leaflet before your first dose, and keep it.¹³

Because tirzepatide slows how quickly the stomach empties, it can affect how other oral medicines are absorbed.¹ Mounjaro slows stomach emptying, which can reduce how well oral contraceptive pills are absorbed.⁷ The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.¹ If you take insulin or sulfonylureas, doses may need adjusting because of the risk of low blood sugar, which is a conversation for your prescriber and not a reason to stop anything yourself.

If you notice a new or lasting symptom, tell your prescriber. You can also report suspected side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.¹⁹

12 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.¹
