Appetite-Suppressant Injections Prescribed by a Nutritionist? (October 2026)

A nutritionist cannot prescribe appetite-suppressant injections — they are prescription-only medicines that need a prescriber. Mounjaro, a once-weekly injection, can be supplied after a free online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99). Prices checked 10 October 2026.

In this guide

01 · The short answer

Who can prescribe an appetite-suppressant injection?

Nutritionists focus on food and diet and do not prescribe medicines. Injections such as Mounjaro must be prescribed by a suitably qualified prescriber after assessing your BMI, medical history and current medicines.1 Your options are a GP, an NHS weight-management service, or a regulated online pharmacy. See our guide to a GP prescribed weight loss injection for the NHS-side route.

Mounjaro is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 to 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1

02 · Getting treatment

How to get Mounjaro through us

The Mounjaro pen starts at £169.99 for the 2.5mg starter, and every later order is £25 off the standard price. Ordering takes four steps:

  • Complete the free online consultation — no charge, no obligation.
  • A GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
  • Our registered pharmacy dispenses, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm.
  • Free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled packaging.

We supply genuine KwikPens through official LillyDirect supply, and all six doses are in stock. You can buy Mounjaro from our hub page.

03 · What the injection does

How Mounjaro suppresses appetite

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, which activates two gut-hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties and improve the body's response to insulin. Most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals.1

For non-prescription ideas, see what is a great appetite suppressant, or compare appetite suppressant pills prescribed by doctors.

04 · Results and pace

What results to expect

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, versus 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. These are trial averages — individual results vary.2 For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg.

Weight loss is gradual. The 2.5mg weeks are an adjustment phase, and most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward. If you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, your prescriber will discuss next steps.1

05 · Where a nutritionist helps

Where a nutritionist still helps

Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet, not instead of one. A nutritionist or dietitian can plan meals and protein intake while a prescriber manages the medicine. Our prescribing team also provides ongoing monthly reviews and dose-titration follow-up, and the free GLPTrackr app helps you track your progress.

06 · NHS access

NHS eligibility

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is phased over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46 Many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than wait.

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Start your free consultation

Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.

Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
What is the name of the injection used to suppress appetite?
Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a once-weekly prescription injection licensed in the UK for weight management. It activates GIP and GLP-1 receptors, which help regulate appetite. Wegovy (semaglutide) is another weekly option, and liraglutide is a daily injection. All need a prescriber's assessment before supply.
Who is eligible for NHS weight loss injections?
NICE recommends Mounjaro for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions. Full rollout will take years, so ask your GP about current access.
Which weight loss injection is best?
No licensed medicine is best for everyone; your prescriber decides what suits you. SURMOUNT-5 was the first large head-to-head trial of tirzepatide and semaglutide, so figures from different trials should not be set side by side. Individual results vary, and your prescriber can advise which suits you.
Who should not take Mounjaro?
You should not take Mounjaro if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, and it should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. It should be stopped at least one month before trying to conceive, and if you become pregnant during treatment, stop the medicine and tell your prescriber promptly. Your prescriber will take extra care, or may recommend against treatment, if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe gut or digestive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or gallbladder problems. Always share your full medical history and medicine list during consultation. Unsuitable orders through us are refunded automatically.
What is the cheapest price for Mounjaro injections?
Across the UK pharmacies we track, the cheapest starting 2.5mg pen is £143.96 and the dearest £179.99 (checked 10 October 2026).
What is known as the "poor man's Ozempic"?
The phrase is a nickname used for low-cost supplements such as berberine. These are available cheaply without assessment, have no clinical oversight and are not equivalent to a prescription medicine. See our guide to appetite suppressant savers for safer ways to think about cost.
Can a nutritionist refer me for a weight loss injection?
A nutritionist can suggest you speak to a prescriber, but cannot prescribe. You can see your GP or complete our free online consultation, which a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
