What to know
before you start.
-
Tirzepatide is a licensed medicine with published trial results; there is no clinical evidence on AOD-9604 or on the two combined.
-
Side effects of the combination are unknown. The documented side effects are those of Mounjaro, mostly digestive.
-
We do not supply AOD-9604 and do not advise combining it with Mounjaro.
-
If you are considering any add-on, tell your prescriber first and report new symptoms through the Yellow Card scheme.
-
Better-evidenced ways to protect results are protein, resistance exercise and a loss pace guided by your prescriber.

01 · The core answer
Can you take AOD-9604 with tirzepatide?
Online articles describe it as a "stack", but a popular idea is not the same as a tested one. The claims you see are theories about mechanism, not trial results.
Tirzepatide has a clear evidence base. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial, people on tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. These are trial averages, and individual results vary.2
02 · What to do next
The decision you are actually facing
Most people asking this question want one of two things: faster fat loss, or protection for muscle while the weight comes off. Neither needs an unproven add-on to get started.
If you already take Mounjaro and are thinking of adding something, speak to your prescriber before you do. If you have not started, the sensible first step is to check whether the licensed medicine suits you. Our Mounjaro pen starts at £169.99 for the 2.5mg pen, and the consultation is free and reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. For wider options, see our weight loss clinic overview.

03 · What tirzepatide does
What tirzepatide does in the body
Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1
Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin.1 In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.1
That matters for this question. Tirzepatide already acts on appetite, digestion and insulin response, which is the job the "stack" theory hands to a second product. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2
04 · Side effects and unknowns
Side effects: what is known and what is not
The side effects of the combination are not documented, so nobody can give you a reliable list. What can be stated is the profile of Mounjaro itself. Like all medicines, Mounjaro can cause side effects, and most are digestive.13 The most common are nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, constipation and abdominal discomfort, and they are most likely when starting treatment or moving up a dose.13
This creates a practical problem if you add a second product. Suppose you feel unwell a week later. You cannot tell which product is responsible, and your prescriber cannot either. That makes it harder to adjust the dose of the medicine that has a known profile.
Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis), or for pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin or eyes (possible gallbladder problems).13 Signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing, also need medical help straight away.13
A symptom that is not on the UK patient leaflet list is not a listed side effect; tell your prescriber about any new or lasting symptom. Discuss it with your prescriber and report it through the Yellow Card scheme.19
05 · Managing tirzepatide effects
Managing the side effects you can plan for
Most digestive effects can be managed without adding anything. Practical steps that help most people are to eat smaller meals slowly, stop at the first feeling of fullness, favour plain lower-fat foods while adjusting, stay well hydrated, and avoid lying down straight after eating.13 If nausea or vomiting is persistent or you cannot keep fluids down, contact your clinical team — dehydration needs prompt attention.13
Most side effects follow a pattern: they appear in the first days after starting or increasing a dose, peak early, and settle as your body adapts.13 This is one reason Mounjaro uses a gradual dose ladder. If a new dose is hard to tolerate, prescribers can hold the current dose longer before stepping up.13 That flexibility is built into the licensed treatment, and it is the safer tool for the problem than an extra product.
06 · Protecting muscle properly
Protecting muscle and the "Ozempic face" look
"Ozempic face" is not a drug effect. It is what losing a significant amount of weight quickly can do to facial volume, on any method including diet or surgery. The same applies to loose skin.
The counter-measures are the ones that protect lean mass: adequate protein, resistance exercise, and a loss pace guided by your prescriber rather than maximum speed. Skin commonly adapts gradually after weight stabilises. Temporary hair shedding is also linked to rapid weight loss itself rather than a direct drug effect, and protein intake and overall nutrition matter there too.
None of this requires a second injectable. It does require a balanced reduced-calorie diet and regular activity, which is exactly how the licensed treatment is meant to be used.
07 · Clearance and stopping
How long tirzepatide stays in your system
Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly four to five weeks to clear the system.1 There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.1
That has a consequence for combinations. If you add a product and then stop it because you feel unwell, tirzepatide is still active for weeks. Any symptom could still relate to the medicine you are continuing.
08 · Spotting risky sellers
How to spot risky sellers of peptide stacks
Be cautious of any seller offering to supply injectable products without a consultation or prescription. A regulated pharmacy reviews your health before supplying a prescription medicine. You can check any UK pharmacy on the GPhC register; ours is GPhC 9012878.
Other warning signs include dramatic weight-loss claims, "stack" bundles with no medical oversight, and sellers who cannot show where their product comes from. The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts and runs the Yellow Card scheme for reporting problems.7 Our Mounjaro is supplied through official LillyDirect supply, as genuine KwikPens direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution.
