A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Body aching is not listed as a side effect in the UK patient leaflet, but it can happen alongside treatment for other reasons.
  • Tell your prescriber about any new or worsening symptom, especially if it is severe or persistent.
  • You can report suspected side effects yourself through the Yellow Card scheme.
  • Do not stop or change your dose without speaking to a clinician.
In this guide

01 · The core answer

Is your aching caused by Mounjaro?

Probably not on its own, and it is not listed as a side effect in the UK patient leaflet. Read the guide on feeling achy alongside the patient leaflet.13

That does not mean your aches are imaginary. Timing alone can make a medicine look responsible when something else is going on, such as a viral illness, poor sleep, a new exercise routine or a change in how much you are eating.

02 · Your next step

What should you do if you feel achy?

Speak to your prescriber, and describe what you feel, where it is, and when it started relative to your weekly injection. A clear timeline helps them judge whether anything needs to change.

If the aching is severe, or comes with a high temperature, breathlessness, swelling or any symptom that worries you, get medical help straight away rather than waiting for your next review. Do not stop or change your dose by yourself.

Where you are still deciding about treatment, our weight loss clinic explains how a prescriber-led plan works, and the Mounjaro pen page explains the free consultation.

03 · What Mounjaro does

What Mounjaro does in the body

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. It is licensed in the UK for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1

It activates two natural gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties and improve the way the body responds to insulin.1 Our guides on how the medicine works in the body and what it actually does go further.

04 · Other possible causes

Other things that can make you ache

Aching has many everyday causes that have nothing to do with a prescription. A cold or other infection, a hard workout, unusual posture, stress and disturbed sleep can all leave the whole body feeling sore.

Changing your eating habits can also make you feel run-down. Mounjaro is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, so a sudden change in routine may be part of the picture.

If the ache is focused in one area, our pages on achy joints and achy legs cover those specifics.

05 · Reporting symptoms

Reporting and tracking symptoms

Any suspected side effect can be reported to the MHRA through the Yellow Card scheme, whether or not you are sure the medicine is responsible.19

Keep a short note of the day you inject, the dose and when the aching begins or eases. At EverydayMeds, ongoing monthly reviews and side-effect support are part of the service, and the free GLPTrackr app can help you keep that record.

Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly four to five weeks to clear the system. Nothing needs doing while it clears.1

06 · Inflammation questions

Does Mounjaro affect inflammation?

People often ask whether the medicine acts on inflammation, because aching is sometimes linked with it. Read our page on inflammation in the body for more.

Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.

07 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Start your free consultation

Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.

Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Why does Mounjaro make your body sore?
Colds, strenuous exercise, poor sleep or changes in eating can all cause aching. If it is new or persistent, tell your prescriber and check the patient information leaflet for the recognised side effects.
Does Mounjaro make you tired and achy?
Feeling tired is listed as a very common side effect in the UK patient leaflet (it may affect more than 1 in 10 people), but body aching is not listed; if you feel unusually tired or sore, tell your prescriber, who can review your dose, eating and general health. You can also report suspected side effects yourself through the Yellow Card scheme.
Can Mounjaro give flu-like symptoms?
Flu-like symptoms are not listed as a side effect in the UK patient leaflet, and they are more often caused by a genuine infection. If you have a high temperature, feel very unwell or symptoms worsen, get medical help straight away and let your prescriber know.
Can tirzepatide cause muscle aches?
Muscle aches are not listed as a side effect in the UK patient leaflet. Exercise, illness and everyday strain are more usual explanations. Because individual reactions vary, discuss any new muscle symptoms with your prescriber and report them via the Yellow Card scheme if you suspect the medicine.
Can Mounjaro cause back pain?
Back pain is not listed as a side effect in the UK patient leaflet. Posture, activity and many other things can cause it. If pain is severe or persistent, or comes with other symptoms, get medical help straight away. Severe, persistent stomach pain that spreads to your back, with or without vomiting, could be pancreatitis: stop using Mounjaro and get medical help straight away.
Does Mounjaro affect body temperature?
Fever is not listed as a side effect in the UK patient leaflet, though gallbladder problems can cause fever with upper right abdominal pain. If you have fever with pain in the upper right abdomen or yellowing of the skin or eyes, get medical help straight away. Otherwise tell your prescriber if you feel feverish or unwell.
Should I stop Mounjaro if I feel achy?
Do not stop or change your dose without speaking to a clinician first. Contact your prescriber, describe the aching and its timing, and follow their advice. If symptoms are severe or you are worried, get medical help straight away. Tirzepatide takes about four to five weeks to clear the system.
