What does a 5ml Mounjaro cost?

A 5mg Mounjaro pen costs £189.99 per month at the standard price, or £47.50 per week, as of October 2026. You can see the live price and doses on the Mounjaro pen product page, where all six doses are in stock.

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) comes as a pre-filled KwikPen in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.¹ Those are milligrams of the active medicine, and they are what pharmacies price by. If you see "5ml" on a listing, treat it as shorthand for the 5mg pen, and check the strength printed on the label before you pay for anything. Liraglutide is one product that really is described per millilitre. It is supplied at 6mg per millilitre and is a daily injection, unlike once-weekly Mounjaro. If a listing mentions ml and daily dosing, it is not Mounjaro.

Each pen is licensed to deliver four weekly doses, so one pen is four weeks of treatment at that strength. That is why the price is quoted per month. The 5mg pen is usually the second step on the dose ladder, after the 2.5mg starting pen, which is covered on our 2.5mg starter pen page.

02 · What you pay

What the 5mg price includes, and the discounts

The price shown is the price paid. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

The standard 5mg price is £189.99. A new customer gets £40 off their first order at any dose with code FIRST40, including people switching to us from another provider at a higher dose. In practice, that means your first 5mg pen is £40 less than the standard price, and every later 5mg order is £25 less. The ongoing monthly cost at any dose is that dose's standard price minus £25.

What does a year on Mounjaro cost?

Most people start at 2.5mg and step up, so the 5mg pen is part of a longer plan, not a one-off purchase. Year figures are at standard prices, before any discount. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less.

A first year costs £2,399.88 if you settle at 5mg, up to £3,279.88 at 15mg. If you settle at 7.5mg, 10mg or 12.5mg, your monthly price is £244.99, £274.99 or £289.99 respectively. Not everyone needs the top dose, and your prescriber reviews that with you rather than defaulting upwards.

How to save money on Mounjaro safely

The safe ways to lower your cost are comparing providers and using the new-customer and reorder discounts.

Cheaper alternatives do exist, but they are different medicines, not a like-for-like swap. Our weight loss treatments overview lays out the options. 05 · What 5mg does

What the 5mg pen is for, and what to expect

The 5mg pen is a step on the dose ladder and a maintenance dose for some people. Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. Examples are high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable.¹

Tirzepatide activates two natural gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin. Most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.¹

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight.² For someone starting at 100 kg, 15% is about 15 kg. These are trial averages, individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.

Report any new symptom to your prescriber and through the Yellow Card scheme. Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin or eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing.

06 · NHS or private

NHS or private: what is the honest picture?

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.⁴⁶ Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.

Private treatment is a choice about speed and convenience, not a lesser product. The same licensed medicine is dispensed, but you pay for it, and for the clinical oversight around it. Choose a provider whose prescribers review you properly, and whose reviews continue after the first box.

07 · Avoid fake pens

Avoiding counterfeit Mounjaro

Price shopping is where most counterfeit risk starts. The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.⁷

Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites. Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation. A seller offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is a warning sign, however attractive the price.¹²

A genuine UK pen comes from a registered pharmacy with a batch number and expiry date. It arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution inside is clear and colourless. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, has been above 30°C, or has been out of the fridge for more than 30 days in use. If anything about supply or packaging seems wrong, check the pharmacy on the GPhC register and contact it before injecting.¹
