A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • A bruise at the injection site is worth noting, checking against the patient leaflet, and mentioning to your prescriber.
  • Follow the pen's instructions for injecting and rotating sites rather than improvising your own technique.
  • Report any suspected side effect through the Yellow Card scheme.
  • If a reaction is spreading, hot, very painful, or lasts more than a week, contact your clinical team.
In this guide

01 · Next steps

What should I do about a bruise from my Mounjaro shot?

Start by noting what you see: where the bruise is, how big it is, and whether it is painful or changing. Then read the section on injecting in the patient information leaflet13 that comes with your pen, and follow the pen's instructions every week.

Mounjaro is a prescription medicine, so any new effect after an injection is worth raising with the prescribing team.

If you want to report it, the Yellow Card scheme accepts reports of suspected side effects from patients.19

02 · Getting Mounjaro

If you are still deciding on treatment

The Mounjaro pen starts at £169.99 per month for the 2.5mg starter, and all six doses are in stock. Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40. Every later order is £25 off the standard price (code DOSE25). Prices checked 11 October 2026.

Ordering works in three steps:

  • Complete a free online consultation. There is no charge and no obligation.
  • A GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it. Unsuitable orders are refunded automatically.
  • We dispense and dispatch, with free next-day tracked delivery. Same-day dispatch applies when you order by 3pm.

Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order. You can start your free consultation whenever you are ready.

03 · Reading your bruise

How do I tell a bruise from a haematoma?

A bruise and a haematoma can look similar, and only a clinician who examines the area can say which it is.

Useful details are the size, the colour, whether the area is raised or tender, and how it changes from day to day. A photo taken each day can help that conversation.

The leaflet13 and your prescriber are the right places for that.

04 · When to seek help

When should a bruise be checked?

Contact your clinical team if a reaction is spreading, hot, very painful, or lasts more than a week. Speak to your prescriber, your GP or NHS 111, and treat anything urgent as urgent.

If you are worried about infection or feel unwell, get medical help straight away.

You can also report a suspected side effect to the MHRA through the Yellow Card scheme.19 Our prescribing team also offers side-effect support as part of ongoing monthly reviews.

05 · Technique and other injection effects

How can I avoid bruising?

Rotate the injection site with each dose, and follow the injection steps in the patient information leaflet every week.13 That includes how to use the pen and where to inject. If you are unsure about a step, ask your prescriber or pharmacist to talk you through it instead of adjusting your technique yourself.

Tell your prescriber about every medicine you take, including anything you buy over the counter, so they can review your whole picture. They can then advise you on anything that is relevant.

Other injection questions have their own guides. See why a Mounjaro injection can hurt, why a shot may sting, and what to do if you miss a shot.

06 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Start your free consultation

Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.

Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.

Is it normal to get a bruise from a GLP-1 shot?
Mild redness, itching, a small bruise or a tender lump at the injection site is common and normally settles within a few days. You can report a suspected side effect through the Yellow Card scheme. Anything large, painful or worsening should be examined.
How to avoid bruising with Mounjaro?
Follow the injection instructions in the patient information leaflet and the pen's own guidance every week, including where to inject.
