A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Weight loss injections are prescription-only, so every route starts with an assessment by a prescriber.
  • NHS access to Mounjaro is being phased in over several years, with the highest-need groups first.
  • Private routes are high-street pharmacies or online pharmacies; check the GPhC register before you buy.
  • Across the UK pharmacies we track, starting pens cost between £143.96 and £179.99 per month.
  • Never buy from anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription.

01 · Your routes

Where can you get weight loss injections?

You can start with your GP, a high-street pharmacy or an online pharmacy. The table sets them side by side.

RouteHow it worksWho it may suit
NHS (GP or specialist service)Access is phased in; the highest-need groups come firstPeople who meet the NHS criteria and can wait
High-street pharmacyIn-store or online consultation, then supplyPeople who prefer face-to-face contact
Online pharmacyOnline questionnaire, prescriber review, home deliveryPeople who want a quicker start and home delivery

Across the UK pharmacies we track, Boots' Mounjaro pens range from £179.00 to £339.00 per month across doses, as of our index checked 10 October 2026. Across the pharmacies we track, the gap between providers for the same dose runs from £27 to £41.

02 · NHS or private

Should you go to your GP or go private?

Ask your GP first if you may meet the NHS criteria. Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment.

If you go private, our free consultation is reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. Our Mounjaro pen comes from official LillyDirect supply, with free next-day tracked delivery and same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm. All six doses are in stock. New customers save £40 on their first order with code FIRST40, and every later order is £25 off the standard price (code DOSE25).

04 · Can you go on them?

Can I go on weight loss injections?

You may be able to if you are an adult with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding if it is suitable.1

05 · Where injections go

Where do weight loss injections go on the body?

Mounjaro is injected under the skin once a week, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food. Licensed sites are the stomach area (at least 5cm from the belly button), the front of the thigh, or the back of the upper arm if someone else gives the injection. Rotate the site with each dose. Each KwikPen contains four weekly doses.113 Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order.

06 · What to expect

Is it right for you? What to expect

Everyone starts on 2.5mg weekly, which is about letting your body adjust rather than weight loss itself. After at least 4 weeks the dose rises to 5mg, then in 2.5mg steps up to a maximum of 15mg.1

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people lost on average 15% of body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, versus 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. These are trial averages and individual results vary.2

07 · Staying safe

How to buy safely

Check that any pharmacy appears on the GPhC register; ours is 9012878. Be wary of anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription, as counterfeit medicines are a known risk.7 Report suspected side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme. Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Can I go to my GP for weight loss injections?
Yes, you can ask your GP. Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years, with the highest-need groups first. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus a weight-related condition. If you do not yet qualify, regulated private treatment is an alternative.
How much is Mounjaro at Boots?
In our index of the UK pharmacies we track, Boots' Mounjaro pens range from £179.00 to £339.00 per month depending on dose, checked 10 October 2026. Our own standard 2.5mg pen is £169.99.
Which pharmacies offer weight loss injections?
High-street chains and online pharmacies both offer them, always after a prescriber assessment. Check any pharmacy is on the GPhC register before buying. EverydayMeds is GPhC-registered (9012878), with consultations reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber and official LillyDirect supply.
How much does a weight loss injection cost?
Across the UK pharmacies we track, the cheapest and dearest Mounjaro pens range from £143.96 to £339.00 per month depending on dose and provider. Our standard pens start at £169.99 for 2.5mg and rise to £329.99 for 15mg, with discounts on first and repeat orders.
Where is the best place to inject weight loss injections?
Use the stomach area at least 5cm from the belly button, or the front of the thigh. The back of the upper arm is licensed only if someone else gives the injection. Rotate the site with each weekly dose.
Can I drink alcohol while taking Mounjaro?
There is no direct interaction between Mounjaro and alcohol, but drinking on a reduced appetite and emptier stomach can hit harder than usual, and alcohol adds calories. If you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea, alcohol increases the risk of low blood sugar. Moderation is the sensible rule. Tell your prescriber about any new symptoms, and report suspected side effects through the Yellow Card scheme. Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin or eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing.
Should I go on weight loss injections?
It depends on your BMI, health conditions and current medicines. Mounjaro is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 to 30 with a weight-related condition, alongside diet and activity. A prescriber assesses suitability through our free consultation.
