Where Is Mounjaro Manufactured? (October 2026)

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is manufactured by Eli Lilly, the company that developed it, and supplied to the UK through Lilly's own distribution. The patient information leaflet in every box names the manufacturer and the licence holder, so that is the reliable place to check. Genuine UK pens come from the official supply chain. A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, made by Eli Lilly.
  • Manufacturer details for your own pen are printed in the leaflet and on the carton.
  • We only supply genuine KwikPens through official LillyDirect supply from Eli Lilly's UK distribution.
  • Where a pen was made matters less than whether it came from a regulated, traceable supply chain.
  • Counterfeit pens are a real risk when buying from unregulated sellers.
In this guide

01 · The core answer

Who makes Mounjaro, and where?

Mounjaro is a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly, and it is licensed in the UK for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1 Lilly runs its own manufacturing network, and it is the company behind the brand name and the active ingredient, tirzepatide.

02 · What to do next

What should you actually check?

Check the leaflet and carton in your box. The UK patient information leaflet sets out who holds the marketing authorisation and who manufactures the product, and the carton carries the batch number and expiry date.13 If something looks different from the leaflet, contact the pharmacy that supplied it.

If you are weighing up where to get treatment, our Mounjaro pen comes through official LillyDirect supply, with all six doses in stock and the 2.5mg starting pen at £169.99 per month. Our weight loss clinic page explains how a consultation works.

03 · Supply chain matters more

Why the supply chain matters more than the factory

For a patient, the useful question is whether the pen is genuine and has been handled correctly, not which building it was filled in. A medicine from a regulated pharmacy has a traceable route from the manufacturer to your door.

EverydayMeds is a GPhC-registered pharmacy (registration 9012878), and you can confirm that on the GPhC register.12 We supply Mounjaro direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution as genuine KwikPens, and orders travel in temperature-controlled packaging with free next-day tracked delivery.

The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts and runs the Yellow Card scheme for reporting suspected fake products or side effects.7 Be wary of any seller offering to supply without a consultation or prescription, because that is the clearest warning sign.

04 · What tirzepatide is

What is being manufactured

Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin.1

It is supplied as a pre-filled multi-dose pen (KwikPen) in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg. Our guide on how GLP-1 drugs are manufactured covers how these medicines are made in general.

05 · Storing your pen

Handling after it leaves the factory

Manufacture is only part of quality, because storage afterwards matters too. Keep unopened pens in the fridge until first use, and they keep until the printed expiry date. Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days after first use, and must then be thrown away.13 Refrigerator storage is 2–8°C.

For anything else about unopened pens left out of the fridge, check the leaflet and ask the pharmacy.

06 · Treatment and NHS access

Where it is made versus how you get it

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first.4 Many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Start your free consultation

Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.

Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Where is Mounjaro manufactured?
Mounjaro is made by Eli Lilly, the company that developed tirzepatide. The leaflet and carton in your box name the manufacturer and licence holder, so check those, or ask the pharmacy that supplied your pen.
Is Mounjaro manufactured in the UK?
Mounjaro is made by Eli Lilly. For the exact origin of your own pen, check the carton and leaflet, or ask the pharmacy that supplied it.
Who is the supplier of Mounjaro in the UK?
Eli Lilly makes Mounjaro and supplies it to UK pharmacies through its UK distribution. EverydayMeds, a GPhC-registered pharmacy, receives genuine KwikPens through official LillyDirect supply. Only a prescriber-reviewed consultation leads to a prescription, and unregulated sellers should be avoided.
Which is safer, Mounjaro or Wegovy?
Both are licensed UK prescription medicines, and neither is safer for everyone. Suitability depends on your health, other medicines and how you tolerate side effects. A GPhC-registered prescriber can review that with you. Our Wegovy pen page explains the alternative, and either option is prescribed only after a consultation.
What should I avoid while taking Mounjaro?
Avoid treating it as a replacement for diet and activity, because it works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Do not buy pens from sellers who supply without a consultation or prescription. Tell your prescriber about other medicines, including oral contraceptives, because Mounjaro slows stomach emptying, which can reduce how well oral contraceptive pills are absorbed. The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.1
What is known as the "poor man's Ozempic"?
The phrase is marketing for low-cost supplements such as berberine, sold with dramatic weight-loss claims. They are not licensed medicines, dosing is not standardised and there is no clinical oversight. They are not equivalent to prescription GLP-1 treatment, and a prescriber can discuss licensed options.
Is there a natural alternative to Ozempic for weight loss?
No natural product is an established equivalent to a licensed GLP-1 medicine. Supplements are available cheaply without assessment, but they lack the trial evidence behind licensed treatments. Diet and physical activity remain the foundation, and a prescriber can advise whether medication suits you.
