01 · Current prices
What does tirzepatide cost in the UK now, after the 2025 rise?
After the 2025 rise, the Mounjaro pen costs £169.99 per month at the 2.5mg starting dose and £329.99 per month at 15mg with us, at standard prices. All six doses are in stock. Prices were checked 10 October 2026.
Those standard prices are what a repeat pen costs before any discount. A new customer gets £40 off their first order at any dose with code FIRST40, including people switching to us from another provider at a higher dose. An automatic £25 reorder discount then applies to every future order (code DOSE25). So the ongoing monthly cost at any dose is that dose's price minus £25. If you are starting at the bottom, your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99). If you are switching at 15mg, your first order is £289.99. For the mechanics of those offers, see our Mounjaro discount code guide.
02 · The shift
How did UK Mounjaro list prices change between 2024 and September 2025?
Lilly announced the agreement on 14 August 2025, and the new list prices took effect on 1 September 2025.10 The lowest doses rose by much less than the highest, so the change hit people on maintenance doses hardest.
| Measure | Before 1 September 2025 | From 1 September 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Lilly UK list price per month (range across doses) | £92–£122 | £133–£330 |
| Largest increase | — | Up to 170% on the highest dose |
| What you pay at a pharmacy | Varies by provider; list prices are not shelf prices | |
The accurate statement is a range before and a range after, by dose. A person on 2.5mg and a person on 15mg experienced very different changes.
03 · What to do
What does the price trend mean for someone starting or continuing in October 2026?
For most people it means choosing a provider on its dated, dose-by-dose price, and planning the full cost of titration and maintenance before you begin. Across the UK pharmacies we track, the cheapest and dearest Mounjaro pens ran from £143.96 to £339.00 per month at 10 October 2026. The gap between providers for the same dose ranged from £27 to £41, so comparing the same dose matters more than comparing headlines.
Three practical steps follow. First, compare like for like: the same dose, the same month, delivery included. Second, plan for the dose you are likely to settle on, not only the starter pen. Our monthly cost breakdown helps with that. Third, if you only want to try one pen first, our single pen option explains how a one-off order works. There is no subscription lock-in, and our consultation is free: the price shown is the price paid.
If you want to see whether treatment is suitable, start your free consultation. A GPhC-registered prescriber reviews every order, and unsuitable orders are refunded automatically.

04 · The September 2025 increase
What exactly did Eli Lilly change in September 2025?
Eli Lilly agreed to increase the UK list price of Mounjaro, announced on 14 August 2025 and effective 1 September 2025.10
The announcement appeared in an Eli Lilly statement about the company's role in biopharmaceutical innovation, rather than in a UK pricing notice aimed at patients. That is why many people first heard about it from pharmacies, news coverage or social media.
A list price is the price Lilly sets for supply into the UK. It is not what a patient pays at the till. Pharmacies buy at list price less confidential discounts, then add their own dispensing, clinical and delivery costs. This is why two pharmacies can sell the same 10mg pen at noticeably different prices, and why the list increase did not translate into an identical rise everywhere. Our guide to the reasons behind the price increase goes deeper on this.
It also helps to separate three things people mix up. The first is the list price, which is a manufacturer figure. The second is the pharmacy's shelf price, which is what you see advertised. The third is your own monthly cost, which depends on dose, discounts and how many pens you need. The September change was to the first of these. Your own cost moved only to the extent that your provider passed the change on, which is something you can only check by looking at that provider's dated prices.
The strength of the medicine did not change. Mounjaro is still supplied as a once-weekly KwikPen in six strengths from 2.5mg to 15mg, and each pen is designed and licensed to deliver four weekly doses.1 Only the commercial terms around it moved. If you are comparing a pre-September quote you were given with a price today, you are comparing two different list-price regimes.
For that reason we publish prices as live, dated figures rather than static numbers in articles. As of October 2026, our standard price for a 2.5mg pen is £169.99 and for a 15mg pen is £329.99, checked 10 October 2026.
05 · List price versus pharmacy price
Why list prices and pharmacy prices are not the same thing
A list price is a manufacturer's published figure, while a pharmacy price is what you actually pay, and the two differ because of confidential discounts, service costs and each provider's own pricing decisions. Eli Lilly's list-price rise sets a ceiling on the supply cost, but providers do not all price from it in the same way.
Our own tracking shows this. EverydayMeds keeps an index of the UK pharmacies we track for Mounjaro prices, checked 10 October 2026. Across the UK pharmacies we track, the cheapest Mounjaro pen at any dose was £143.96 per month and the dearest was £339.00 per month. That is a spread across all doses and providers, so it should not be read as a starting-dose price.
For the 2.5mg starter pen specifically, the cheapest across the UK pharmacies we track was £143.96 and the dearest was £179.99 per month. For the same dose, the smallest gap between two providers was £27 and the largest was £41. Those gaps are why a price-trend article alone cannot tell you what to pay: the trend is set by list prices, but your cost is set by the provider you choose.
High-street pharmacies are part of this picture. Boots' lowest Mounjaro dose price was £179.00 per month and its highest was £339.00 per month at the same check.
What to compare when prices differ
Compare the same dose in the same month, and check what is included.
- Is the consultation free, or charged separately?
- Is delivery free, and is it temperature-controlled?
- Are needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance included?
- Are ongoing clinical reviews part of the price?
- Is there a subscription, or can you order only when you need a pen?
With us, the consultation is free, delivery is free next-day tracked in temperature-controlled packaging (Saturday delivery is £14.99), needles, a sharps bin and guidance come with every order, and ongoing monthly reviews are included. There is no subscription, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping. Orders placed by 3pm are dispatched the same day.
Be wary of any page that quotes a single "UK price" without a date, a dose or a provider. After a list-price change of this size, undated figures are likely to describe the old regime, the new one, or a blend. Dated, dose-specific prices are the only reliable basis for a comparison, and we date ours for that reason.
06 · Planning a year of cost
How much does a year of tirzepatide cost after the rise?
At standard prices a first year costs £2,711.88 if you settle at 5mg, up to £3,599.88 if you settle at 15mg. A year here means 52 weeks, which is 13 pens. These totals are before discounts: a new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less than the standard price.
The first four pens, covering 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg and 10mg, cost £959.96 at standard prices. This is where the dose steps up after at least 4 weeks on each dose, depending on how you respond. Not everyone needs to go through all of those steps to the top, because the right maintenance dose is a decision between you and your prescriber.
| Plan | Pens | Cost at standard prices |
|---|---|---|
| First year settling at 5mg | 13 pens, 52 weeks | £2,711.88 |
| First year settling at 15mg | 13 pens, 52 weeks | £3,599.88 |
| Maintenance at 7.5mg | 1 pen, 4 weeks | £279.99 per month |
| Maintenance at 10mg | 1 pen, 4 weeks | £290.99 per month |
| Maintenance at 12.5mg | 1 pen, 4 weeks | £319.99 per month |
For maintenance doses other than 5mg and 15mg we show the monthly price only, because the year depends on when you step up. Do not read a monthly price as a year cost.
Why dose and price rise together
The standard weekly equivalents are £42.50 at 2.5mg, £54.75 at 5mg, £72.75 at 10mg and £82.50 at 15mg. Because the list price rose most at the top of the range, the dose you settle on has become the biggest single driver of what you spend over a year.
The licensed approach is to use the dose your prescriber judges appropriate, reviewed monthly.
You can spread the cost with Klarna or pay-monthly options, which do not involve a subscription. If you want to compare how a one-off order differs from planning a year, our tirzepatide monthly cost page sets out the month-by-month view.
07 · What stays the same: the medicine
What did not change when prices did: the medicine itself
The medicine did not change in 2025: Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly, licensed in the UK for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1 It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen (KwikPen) in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1 A price rise is a commercial event; it says nothing about whether the treatment works any better or worse.
Tirzepatide activates two natural gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin.1 In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.1 This dual action distinguishes it from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide.
The headline efficacy evidence is SURMOUNT-1, a trial of 2,539 adults. People taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages and individual results vary. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2
As a worked example only, for someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. That is straight arithmetic on a trial average, not a prediction for any person. At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight, and half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20%.2
Putting cost in context without overpromising
It is reasonable to weigh the monthly cost against the benefit you hope for, but trial averages do not predict your own result, so no price can be justified by a promised outcome. The sensible way to use efficacy data is to confirm that the treatment is worth discussing with a prescriber, then let your own response, reviewed monthly, guide whether and at what dose to continue.
Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system.1 There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.
A prescriber will assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable, and the BNF sets out indications, dosing and safety information they work from.11 Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Individual results vary, and this page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.
08 · NHS versus private cost
How does the 2025 price trend affect the NHS-versus-private choice?
The price trend matters most to people paying privately, because NHS patients do not pay a monthly pen price. Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years.4 NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.6
Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. If you might qualify for NHS treatment sooner, the first step is to ask your GP.
NHS prescription charge
Where tirzepatide is prescribed on the NHS in England, the standard NHS prescription charge of £9.90 per item applies unless you are exempt. That is a charge set by the NHS, not a pen price, and it does not move with Lilly's list price.
How to choose between waiting and paying
There are four questions worth asking yourself.
- Do I meet the NHS criteria that are being rolled out first?
- If not, how long am I willing to wait for my group to be reached?
- Does my budget cover a full year, including a likely maintenance dose, and not only the first pen?
- Would I prefer ongoing monthly clinical reviews with a private prescribing team in the meantime?
Private treatment is not a lesser version of the same medicine. It is the same licensed tirzepatide, supplied through Lilly's official distribution to licensed pharmacies. What differs is access, timing and who pays. If you begin privately and later become eligible on the NHS, speak to your GP about how to transition, and keep your treatment records handy.
Whichever route you take, check that your pharmacy is on the GPhC register. Ours is GPhC-registered under number 9012878, and the register is public so you can confirm it yourself.12 The Lilly price rise has made unregulated sellers more tempting for some people.
Wegovy sits in a similar position: NHS access to Wegovy runs through specialist weight-management services, so ask your GP. Our overview of all weight loss treatments compares your options without assuming one answer fits everyone.
09 · Eligibility before cost
Who is eligible, whatever the price?
Price is only relevant once you know you are suitable. Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.1 It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1
A prescriber will assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable for you.1 That is the purpose of our free online consultation: a short health questionnaire with no charge and no obligation. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
Why check suitability before comparing prices
Comparing prices first can lead you to a pen you cannot be prescribed. Starting with the consultation avoids paying for something unsuitable, and it means the price you compare is the price for the dose your prescriber would actually recommend, which is usually the 2.5mg starting pen.
Interactions and medical history are part of suitability. Oral contraceptives are a good example: the medicine can reduce absorption of oral contraceptives because stomach emptying slows.7 The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.1 If you take insulin or sulfonylureas, doses may need reducing to avoid low blood sugar. Your prescriber will discuss both. The patient information leaflet in each pen box lists the full detail.13
Reporting problems
If you notice a new symptom after starting, discuss it with your prescriber and report it through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme. This applies at any price and any dose. Aftercare with us includes ongoing monthly reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments by the prescribing team, plus side-effect support Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, by email at support@everydaymeds.co.uk, through the account portal chat, or by phone on 0333 207 0413.
Eligibility is also dynamic. Your BMI and conditions can change over a year of treatment, and repeat orders re-check suitability. For that reason, we do not auto-ship pens: each reorder is a deliberate step, which also gives you a natural point to review cost against benefit. If you want to see whether you qualify, our free consultation takes a few minutes.
None of this changes with a list-price rise. What the rise changed is how much a full course costs, which is exactly why confirming eligibility early, before committing to a plan, is the most useful first step.
10 · Price pressure and unsafe shortcuts
Why price rises tempt unsafe shortcuts, and what to do instead
Higher list prices increase the pull of cheaper-looking options, and some of them are dangerous. The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified.7 Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.7 Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites.12 Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation.
Anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is outside the regulated system, however attractive the price looks. Genuine UK stock is supplied through Lilly's official distribution to licensed pharmacies, and every pen carries a batch number and expiry date that can be checked. Our Mounjaro comes from official LillyDirect supply, sourced directly from Eli Lilly.
Safer ways to manage cost
The legitimate levers are few but real.
- Compare dated prices for the same dose across regulated pharmacies on the GPhC register.
- Use pay-monthly or Klarna options to spread the cost without a subscription.
- Ask your GP about NHS access if you may fall into an eligible group.
The SURPASS-2 trial compared tirzepatide with semaglutide in type 2 diabetes, but that is a different population and question, so it is not a basis for choosing a cheaper alternative on weight grounds.3 If you are considering switching medicines for cost, discuss it with a prescriber rather than comparing numbers from different trials yourself.
11 · Ordering and checking your pen
How ordering works, step by step
Ordering takes four stages, and if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, your order is refunded automatically in full.
- Free online consultation: a short health questionnaire, no charge and no obligation.
- Prescriber review: a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it, not a scoring script. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
- Dispensing and dispatch: dispensed by our registered pharmacy, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm.
- Delivery: free next-day tracked delivery by DPD in temperature-controlled, discreet packaging. Saturday delivery is £14.99.
Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance are included with every order. You can pay by Visa or Mastercard, Klarna or pay-monthly options, and there are no subscriptions. Start from the Mounjaro pen page to see live prices, or begin the free consultation directly.
Refunds and returns
Orders declined at prescriber review are refunded automatically in full. Dispensed prescription medicines cannot be returned except where an item is faulty, damaged or wrong, in which case you should contact us within 3 days. Refunds take 5–10 working days.
Checking your pen is genuine and still good
A genuine UK Mounjaro pen comes from a registered pharmacy with a batch number and expiry date, arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution inside is clear and colourless. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, or has been above 30°C or out of the fridge for more than 30 days in use. If supply or packaging ever seems wrong, check the pharmacy on the GPhC register and contact the pharmacy before injecting.
Storage in brief
Store unopened pens in the fridge until first use; they keep until the printed expiry date.13 Once in use, a UK KwikPen is licensed for up to 30 days (not above 30°C) out of the fridge.1 For any question about an unopened pen that has been out of the fridge, read the patient information leaflet and contact the pharmacy rather than guessing.
Finally, keep a record of what you have paid and when. The free GLPTrackr companion app, on iOS and Android, helps you track your journey, which makes it easier to see whether the cost is delivering what you hoped when you review with your prescriber each month. Over 100,000 customers have been supported on their weight loss journey with us, which is a measure of how many people we serve, not a promise about results.
How ordering works
How ordering works at EverydayMeds
Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.
Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes
Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.
Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day
A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.
Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery
Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.
Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.
Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.
