Mounjaro Sulphur Burps Remedy (October 2026)

The most sensible Mounjaro sulphur burps remedy is to adjust what and how you eat: smaller, plainer meals, fewer fizzy drinks and alcohol, less of the foods that tend to bring on eggy gas, and no eating just before lying down. Mounjaro slows how quickly the stomach empties, so food stays put for longer.1 No remedy is proven to switch the burps off, so persistent symptoms need your prescriber.

A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Sulphur burps are best tackled by changing meal size, food choices and timing, not by adding supplements.
  • Mounjaro slows stomach emptying, which is why food can linger and produce gas.
  • No remedy is certain to work, so keep a simple food diary and see what changes.
  • Check with a pharmacist before adding antacids or remedies alongside your treatment.
  • Severe, persistent or worsening symptoms should go to your prescriber; report side effects via Yellow Card.
In this guide

01 · Core answer

What to try first for sulphur burps

Start with meal size and food choice, because these are low-risk and within your control. Mounjaro helps regulate appetite and slows how quickly the stomach empties, so a large or rich meal sits for longer than it used to.1 For the wider picture, see what causes sulphur burps on Mounjaro.

  • Eat smaller portions more slowly. Stop when you feel comfortably full, not stuffed.
  • Go easy on likely triggers. Rich or fatty foods can sit heavily when the stomach empties more slowly, so cut back on those first. Cut back temporarily, then reintroduce them one at a time.
  • Skip fizzy drinks and alcohol.
  • Leave a gap before bed. Avoid eating shortly before you lie down.
  • Keep a short food diary. Note the meal, the timing and the burps to spot your own pattern.

02 · Next step

Is this relevant to you, and what next?

If you have started Mounjaro or just increased your dose, these changes are worth trying for a few weeks before anything else. If symptoms are mild and settling, patience is reasonable; our sulphur burps timeline covers what to expect.

03 · Drinks and home remedies

Drinks and home remedies: what to expect

Plain water sipped between meals is the safest drink choice. Lemon water, baking soda water and herbal teas are popular suggestions, but none is proven to neutralise sulphur burps, so treat them as comfort measures, not treatments.

Be cautious with anything marketed as a cure or a natural alternative. Low-cost supplements carry no clinical oversight, and their dosing is not standardised. If you want to try an antacid or an alginate such as Gaviscon, ask a pharmacist first so it suits your other medicines.

04 · How long they last

How long sulphur burps last

There is no fixed duration, and it varies from person to person. Side effects are most likely when starting treatment or moving up a dose, and for most people they ease within days to a few weeks as the body adjusts.13

If you stop treatment, tirzepatide takes roughly four to five weeks to clear the system, and there is no way to speed this up.1 Do not change or stop your dose without speaking to your prescriber. More ideas are in our guides to stopping sulphur burps and helping sulphur burps.

05 · When to get advice

When sulphur burps need a professional

Speak to your prescriber if burping is persistent, worsening or comes with symptoms that worry you, such as ongoing nausea or vomiting. If you cannot keep fluids down, contact your clinical team, as dehydration needs medical help straight away. For severe or persistent stomach pain, get medical help straight away. Burping is listed as a common side effect (up to 1 in 10 people) in the Mounjaro patient leaflet, so tell your prescriber about any new or lasting symptom.13

You can report any suspected side effect through the Yellow Card scheme.19 Customers who order from us have ongoing monthly reviews and side-effect support from our prescribing team. For related reading, see GLP-1 sulphur burps and whether there is a cure.

06 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
How long do Mounjaro sulphur burps last?
There is no set length. They differ between people and often show up around starting or increasing a dose. If they persist or worsen, speak to your prescriber rather than waiting indefinitely. Changing meal size and food choices is a sensible first step.
How do I get rid of sulphur burps with Mounjaro?
Try smaller, plainer meals eaten slowly, fewer fizzy drinks and alcohol, less of the foods that commonly trigger eggy gas, and a gap between your last meal and lying down. No approach is proven to stop them completely, so contact your prescriber if they continue.
Is Gaviscon good for sulphur burps?
Some people use alginate or antacid products for reflux-type symptoms, but you should ask a pharmacist first to check it suits you and your other medicines. If burping or heartburn persists, tell your prescriber.
Do sulphur burps mean I'm sick?
Not on their own. They are a digestive symptom, and Mounjaro slows how quickly the stomach empties, so food stays there longer. However, if they come with severe or persistent stomach pain, get medical help straight away. For ongoing vomiting or other worrying symptoms, contact your prescriber.
Will lemon water help with sulphur burps?
Lemon water is not proven to neutralise sulphur burps. It is harmless for most people as a still drink in place of fizzy ones, so it may suit you as a comfort measure. Do not rely on it, and speak to your prescriber if symptoms persist.
What foods should I avoid with sulphur burps?
Temporarily cut back on commonly blamed foods: eggs, rich dairy, processed meat, garlic, onions and cabbage-family vegetables, plus fizzy drinks and alcohol. Reintroduce them gradually, one at a time, using a food diary, so you learn which ones actually affect you.
What drink gets rid of sulphur burps?
No drink is proven to get rid of them. Sipping plain water between meals, rather than fizzy drinks or alcohol, is the safest choice. Be wary of products promising dramatic results, and check with a pharmacist before using any supplement alongside your treatment.
