01 · The basics

What is in a Mounjaro box?

A Mounjaro box contains the KwikPen itself, which is a prefilled multi-dose pen, plus the patient information leaflet.¹³ Mounjaro comes in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.¹ The strength is printed on the carton and the pen, so check it matches your prescription.

When a pharmacy dispenses the pen, it adds a label with your name, the dose and the directions. Orders from us also include needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance. Our Mounjaro pen comes as genuine KwikPens via official LillyDirect supply.

02 · Keep or bin?

Should you keep the box and label?

Yes, keep the carton and dispensing label for at least as long as you are using that pen. They show the strength, batch number and expiry date. If you move to another provider, they may ask for evidence of your current dose, and a photo of the label is a useful backup.

Do not keep used needles or empty pens in the carton. Use the sharps bin.

03 · Storing pens in the box

How to store pens in their box

Store unused pens in the fridge at 2–8°C, in the original carton, until first use. Unopened pens keep until the printed expiry date. Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days after first use, and must then be thrown away.¹

For any question about an unopened pen that has been out of the fridge, check the patient information leaflet and ask the pharmacy.¹³ Do not guess. If the pen may have been stored incorrectly, sterility and potency are no longer assured.

Third-party cases and fridge organisers are a small accessory purchase. They can keep pens tidy or protect them while travelling, but they are optional. Keep the leaflet and label with your supplies.

04 · Checking a box is genuine

How to check a box is genuine

Check that the carton is sealed, the strength matches your prescription, the label carries your name and a pharmacy's details, and the expiry date is printed. Counterfeit Mounjaro pens have been the subject of MHRA alerts.⁷ Be wary of anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription.

05 · Switching provider

Using your box when switching provider

A new provider will want to know your current strength and how long you have taken it. Your latest carton or label photo helps answer both. A prescriber still reviews suitability. Repeat orders with us re-check suitability, and there is no auto-shipping.

If you have a gap, do not simply restart at a high dose. Tell the prescriber. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and individual results vary.²
