A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • POTS is not listed as a side effect in the Mounjaro patient information leaflet.
  • Mounjaro slows stomach emptying and reduces appetite, so eating and drinking less is something to watch if you have POTS.
  • Tell your prescriber about a POTS diagnosis before starting, and about new symptoms at any time.
  • New or worsening symptoms can be reported through the Yellow Card scheme.
  • Mounjaro is prescription-only and supplied after a consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber.
In this guide

01 · The core answer

Can Mounjaro cause POTS?

It is not listed as a side effect in the UK Mounjaro patient leaflet.13 Dizziness, low blood pressure and a fast pulse are listed in the leaflet as common side effects (up to 1 in 10 people). Tell your prescriber about any new or lasting symptom, and you can report suspected side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.

Tirzepatide activates GIP and GLP-1 receptors, helps regulate appetite and slows how quickly the stomach empties.1 Most people feel fuller sooner. If you have POTS and you end up eating and drinking noticeably less, that is worth raising with your prescriber early.

02 · Your next step

If you have POTS and are considering Mounjaro

Tell the prescriber about your diagnosis during the consultation. Our free consultation is reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, and unsuitable orders are refunded automatically. Include your other medicines and any heart-rhythm or blood-pressure symptoms. The prescriber can then decide whether treatment is appropriate for you.

If you are already on treatment and your symptoms change, do not wait for the next review. Get medical help straight away for a racing heart or fainting. For other symptom changes, contact the prescribing team or your GP. When you are ready to look at treatment, our Mounjaro pen prices and consultation page explains the process, and our weight loss clinic covers the wider service.

03 · Why people ask

Why people link GLP-1 medicines and POTS

The question comes up because the two things can overlap in daily life, not because a cause has been established. Appetite changes, a different eating pattern and feeling light-headed on standing can all happen for many reasons. POTS itself can also affect weight, sleep and energy, which makes it hard to untangle from a new medicine.

Mounjaro works by mimicking two gut hormones and slowing stomach emptying.1

04 · Comparing symptoms

Symptoms to report to a prescriber

Report any new or worsening symptom rather than trying to work out the cause yourself. Tell your prescriber about any new or lasting symptom, and you can report suspected side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.19

SituationWhat to do
Existing POTS diagnosis, thinking of startingDisclose it in the consultation and discuss with your specialist or GP
Dizziness or faintness after startingTell the prescribing team or your GP before the next dose; for fainting or a racing heart, get medical help straight away
Struggling to eat or drink normallyTell your prescriber promptly
Any suspected side effectReport through Yellow Card

If symptoms feel severe or sudden, get medical help straight away rather than waiting for a routine review.

05 · Weight and POTS

Weight loss when you have POTS

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults and is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1 Exercise is exactly where POTS can make things harder, so any plan should be agreed with someone who knows your condition.

Individual results vary, and this page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.

06 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Does Mounjaro cause POTS syndrome?
POTS is not listed as a side effect in the UK Mounjaro patient leaflet. Dizziness, low blood pressure and a fast pulse are listed in the leaflet as common side effects (up to 1 in 10 people). If you notice dizziness, tell your prescriber and report it through the Yellow Card scheme. For a racing heart or fainting, get medical help straight away.
Can GLP-1 make POTS worse?
Mounjaro slows stomach emptying and reduces appetite, so eating and drinking less is a practical concern if you have POTS. Speak to your prescriber or specialist before starting, and report any worsening symptoms promptly.
Can I take Mounjaro if I already have POTS?
That is a decision for a prescriber who knows your full history. Disclose your POTS diagnosis in the consultation, which is free and reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. They will advise whether treatment is suitable. Unsuitable orders are refunded automatically.
Do POTS get better if you lose weight?
POTS is a condition to manage with your GP or specialist. If weight management is part of your plan, agree the approach with them, since exercise and eating habits can affect POTS symptoms.
What medications should be avoided in patients with POTS syndrome?
Which medicines suit you depends on your symptoms, other conditions and current prescriptions. Tell the prescriber about everything you take, including over-the-counter products, and ask your POTS specialist or pharmacist to check any new medicine.
What should I do if I feel faint or dizzy on Mounjaro?
Tell your prescriber or GP before your next dose. If you faint or have a racing heart, get medical help straight away. Report suspected side effects through the Yellow Card scheme. Do not assume the cause yourself, because dizziness has many possible explanations.
Why is everyone suddenly getting POTS?
If you think you may have POTS, see your GP for assessment rather than relying on online discussion.
