In this guide

01 · Cost

How much does GLP-1 therapy cost in the UK?

Private Mounjaro costs £169.99 per month at the starting dose, standard price. Each pen lasts four weeks. Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40. You can see every strength on the Mounjaro pen page, with in stock status shown live.

Other GLP-1 medicines have different prices. Wegovy's first pen costs £99.99 as a first-order price; see the Wegovy pen page for current figures.

02 · Planning

Planning the cost of a year

Most people escalate the dose in steps, so cost rises before it settles. Year costs are shown at standard prices, before discounts. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less.

StageLengthStandard cost
First year, settling at 5mg52 weeks, 13 pens£2,711.88
First year, settling at 15mg52 weeks, 13 pens£3,599.88
Maintenance at 7.5mg, 10mg or 12.5mgPer pen£279.99, £290.99, £319.99

Higher strengths cost more per month, and the dose steps up at least 4 weeks apart, depending on how you respond. Our Mounjaro discount code guide explains the current offers.

03 · NHS or private

NHS or private: the honest picture

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment. The NHS prescription charge in England is £9.90 per item where it applies.

04 · Ordering

How ordering works

  • Complete a free online consultation, a short health questionnaire with no obligation.
  • A GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
  • We dispense and dispatch, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm, then free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled packaging. Saturday delivery is £14.99.

The consultation is free and the price shown is the price paid. Klarna and pay-monthly options are available, with no subscription.

05 · What you are paying for

What GLP-1 therapy cost buys

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose KwikPen in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1 Each pen is designed and licensed to deliver exactly four weekly doses.

Tirzepatide activates two gut-hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1, which help regulate appetite, slow stomach emptying and improve the body's response to insulin. This dual action distinguishes it from single-action medicines such as semaglutide.1

Alongside the pen, our price includes needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance, plus ongoing monthly reviews, dose titration and side-effect support from the prescribing team. Supply is official LillyDirect, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution. Repeat orders re-check suitability, with no auto-shipping.

06 · What results to expect

What results can the cost deliver?

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages and individual results vary. For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg.

At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight.2 Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them. Read more in our Mounjaro weight loss information.

07 · Who is eligible

Who can be prescribed it privately?

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1 A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines first.

Mounjaro is also licensed for type 2 diabetes. If you have it, tell your prescriber and your usual diabetes team so care stays joined up. Our pages on GLP-1 and diabetes and GLP-1 RA therapy cover this in more depth.

08 · Ways not to save

Cutting cost safely: what to avoid

Mounjaro is licensed as a once-weekly medicine, with blood levels designed around a 7-day cycle.

Each pen is designed and licensed to deliver exactly four weekly doses, so use the pen as designed, then dispose of it.1

Mounjaro must not be combined with other GLP-1 medicines, unlicensed research peptides such as retatrutide, which has no UK licence, or compounded copies. If something promises faster results outside a licensed pathway, that is the warning sign.7 Our pages on GLP-1 peptide therapy and the GLP-1 gene explain what is and is not a licensed treatment.

09 · Avoiding fake pens

Counterfeit safety when prices look too good

The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.7 Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites.12

A genuine pen has a batch number and expiry date, arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution is clear and colourless. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy, contains particles or is past expiry.13 We are GPhC-registered (9012878). Browse all weight loss treatments or read about Mounjaro therapy.

10 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
How much do GLP-1 treatments cost?
Private Mounjaro costs £169.99 per month at 2.5mg, rising to £329.99 at 15mg, standard prices. Across the UK pharmacies we track, pens range from £143.96 to £339.00 per month. New customers save £40 on a first order, and every later order is £25 off. Prices checked 11 October 2026.
How much does semaglutide cost in the UK?
Wegovy is the semaglutide brand licensed for weight management. Its first pen costs £99.99 as a first-order price, and later doses cost more as you step up.
What's better, Mounjaro or semaglutide?
Both are licensed, effective treatments. Mounjaro activates GIP and GLP-1 receptors, while semaglutide acts on GLP-1 alone. SURMOUNT-5 was the first large head-to-head trial of the two, and individual results vary. A prescriber can advise which suits your health, budget and goals after a consultation.
What is a cheaper alternative to Ozempic?
Ozempic is licensed for type 2 diabetes, not weight management. For weight management, licensed options include Mounjaro from £169.99 per month at the starting dose. Avoid unlicensed copies, research peptides and unverified sellers, which carry safety risks. A prescriber can discuss licensed choices.
How much is a 3 month supply of Mounjaro?
Three months is roughly three pens, as each pen lasts four weeks. The cost depends on dose: each pen costs £169.99 at 2.5mg up to £329.99 at 15mg at standard prices, and if you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and later orders £25 less.
Is GLP-1 therapy available on the NHS?
Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus a weight-related condition. The primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first. Many eligible people choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.
What are the potential side effects of GLP-1 medicines?
Like all medicines, Mounjaro can cause side effects, and most are digestive: nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, constipation and abdominal discomfort affect more than 1 in 10 people. They are most likely when starting or moving up a dose and ease for most people within days to a few weeks. Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back (possible pancreatitis), pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems), or signs of a severe allergic reaction. Read the patient information leaflet before starting and discuss any new symptoms with your prescriber. You can report suspected side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.
Can I make my pens last longer to save money?
No. If cost is a concern, talk to your clinical team rather than self-adjusting.
