A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • Mounjaro's UK list price rose in September 2025, so genuine reductions come from discounts and comparing providers, not from falling list prices.
  • A new customer's first order at any dose is £40 less with code FIRST40; every later order is £25 off the standard price.
  • Across the UK pharmacies we track, the same pen can differ in price by £27 to £41 between providers.
  • Very cheap pens from social media or salons risk being fake; check any pharmacy on the GPhC register.
In this guide

01 · The honest answer

Has the cost of GLP-1 been lowered?

No: list prices for Mounjaro went up, not down, so reduced cost today means smarter buying rather than a market-wide price cut. Eli Lilly announced a UK list-price increase on 14 August 2025, effective 1 September 2025. Pharmacy sell prices differ because of confidential discounts.

That is why comparing providers matters. Across the UK pharmacies we track (checked 12 October 2026), a Mounjaro pen ranges from £143.96 to £339.00 depending on dose and provider. For the same dose, the gap between providers runs from £27 to £41. Starting pens alone range from £143.96 to £179.99.

02 · What you pay with us

What the Mounjaro pen costs with us

The standard price of one 4-week pen is £169.99 at 2.5mg, £218.99 at 5mg, £279.99 at 7.5mg, £290.99 at 10mg, £319.99 at 12.5mg and £329.99 at 15mg. All six doses are in stock. Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99). Switching to us at 15mg? Your first order is £289.99.

The new-customer discount applies to your first order at any dose, including if you move to us from another provider at a higher dose. After that, every future order is £25 off the standard price with code DOSE25, so your ongoing monthly cost at any dose is that dose's price less the reorder discount. The Mounjaro discount code guide shows the current values.

Consultation is free and the price shown is the price paid, with no hidden fees. Delivery is free next-day tracked, with temperature-controlled packaging. Klarna and pay-monthly options are available, with no subscription lock-in, so you can spread cost without committing to automatic shipments. Saturday delivery is £14.99.

03 · Planning the year

What a year of treatment costs

If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96 at standard prices. A first year of 13 pens costs £2,711.88 if you stay on 5mg after your 2.5mg starting pen, up to £3,599.88 if you step up through every dose to 15mg. These totals are before discounts: a new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order £25 less.

04 · How to order

How ordering works

Ordering takes three steps. First, complete the free online consultation, a short health questionnaire with no charge and no obligation. Second, a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. Third, our registered pharmacy dispenses it, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm and free next-day tracked delivery. Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order.

05 · Why list prices rose

Why the list price rose in 2025

Many people expect GLP-1 medicines to get cheaper as they become more common. In the UK, the opposite happened for Mounjaro's list price. Eli Lilly announced an agreement to increase the UK list price on 14 August 2025, effective 1 September 2025.10

This matters because it explains why prices you remember from early 2025 no longer apply. A figure quoted on a forum, a social media post or an older web page may pre-date the change. Treat any price without a visible date with caution.

It also explains why pharmacy prices differ. Lilly's list price is only the starting point. Pharmacies negotiate confidential discounts, and each decides how much of that to pass on, how to structure consultation and delivery, and how to present dose pricing. That is the reason the same pen can vary so much between providers. Across the UK pharmacies we track, the smallest gap between providers for the same dose is £27 and the largest is £41, as checked on 12 October 2026.

Boots is one well-known comparison point. Its Mounjaro dose prices run from £179.00 to £339.00 per month, again as of our index date. We show these figures so you can compare like for like rather than relying on a headline number.

When you compare, check four things: the dose being priced, whether the price is per 4-week pen, whether a consultation fee is added, and whether delivery is charged. A low headline price that excludes these is not a like-for-like comparison. With us, the consultation is free, delivery is free next-day tracked, and the price shown is the price paid.

The practical lesson is that price tracking is a moving target. If a price has not got a date next to it, you cannot know whether it still holds. Reduced cost, in the current market, is about finding a provider whose full price you can compare plainly, then using the discounts available.

06 · Discounts explained

How the new-customer and reorder discounts work

Discounts are the most straightforward way to bring the monthly cost down without changing the medicine or how you take it. Here is exactly how ours work, so you can plan.

A new customer receives £40 off their first order at any dose with code FIRST40. This applies whether you are starting at 2.5mg or moving to us from another provider at a higher dose. The first-order price of the 2.5mg starter pen is £129.99, against a standard price of £169.99. If you are switching at 15mg, your first order is £289.99.

After the first order, every future order receives an automatic £25 off the standard price (code DOSE25). Your ongoing monthly cost at any dose is therefore that dose's standard price minus the reorder discount. At 5mg, for example, the standard price is £218.99 and each later order is £25 less than that.

Repeat orders re-check suitability, and there is no auto-shipping. That matters for cost control: you only pay for a pen when you decide you need the next one, and a prescriber confirms it is still appropriate. There are no subscriptions, so you can pause if your plans or finances change.

You can also spread the cost. Visa and Mastercard are accepted, as are Klarna and pay-monthly options. Spreading payments does not reduce the total price, but it can make a month-to-month budget easier to manage.

For the current code values and how they appear at checkout, see our Mounjaro discount code page. We would rather you use a clearly described, dated discount than chase unverified codes on third-party sites, which are often out of date or unconnected to a regulated pharmacy.

07 · Reduced frequency dosing

Reduced frequency GLP-1 dosing: why stretching pens is not a saving

Taking Mounjaro less often than weekly is not a licensed way to cut cost. Mounjaro is licensed as a once-weekly medicine, and its blood levels are designed around a 7-day cycle.1

Once weight has come down, a lower frequency looks like an easy saving. But the saving is false if the treatment stops working as intended.

Each Mounjaro KwikPen is designed and licensed to deliver exactly four weekly doses. Use the pen as designed, then dispose of it.

Talk to your clinical team rather than self-adjusting. Our ongoing monthly clinical reviews exist for exactly this.

There is clinical research on what happens when treatment is continued versus stopped. The SURMOUNT-4 trial examined continued tirzepatide for maintenance of weight reduction.14 The takeaway for planning is that stopping or changing treatment is a clinical decision, best made with a prescriber who knows your history, not a cost-saving experiment.

Also remember that tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system.1 There is no way to speed this up.

08 · NHS versus private

NHS versus private: the cost picture

The NHS is the lowest-cost route if you qualify, but access is being phased in over several years. Mounjaro is available on the NHS. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46 Full rollout is expected to take years.

If you are in England and your prescription is NHS-funded, the usual prescription charge is £9.90 per item unless you are exempt. The practical issue is not the charge, it is whether you fall inside the group currently being offered treatment. Your GP or local weight-management service can tell you where you stand.

This is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. The licensed criteria are broader than the current NHS priority groups. Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.1 It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

A sensible way to think about it is as two routes, not rivals. If you may qualify for NHS care, ask your GP, because it can cost you far less.

You can use both in sequence. Some people start privately and move to NHS care when they become eligible. If that is your plan, tell your prescriber so your treatment history is clear. The NHS information pages on tirzepatide are a good neutral reference.5

NHS access to Wegovy runs through specialist weight-management services; ask your GP. We cover both medicines on our weight loss treatments page if you want to compare options.

09 · Cost versus results

What the cost buys: trial results in context

Whether a price is good value depends partly on what the treatment can do, so it helps to know the trial evidence, stated honestly. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2

These are trial averages. Individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2 As a worked example only, for someone starting at 100 kg, 15% is about 15 kg and 20.9% is about 21 kg. Trial averages do not predict your own result.

At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20% of their body weight.2

Higher is not automatically better, and your prescriber will guide the right pace.

A fair way to judge value is cost per month at the dose that works for you, set against how you feel, how your health markers move and whether you can sustain the diet and activity changes alongside. Your monthly reviews with the prescribing team are the place to make that judgement with real data rather than guesswork.

10 · Other GLP-1 options

Is GLP-1 the same as Mounjaro? Comparing options on cost

GLP-1 is a class name, and Mounjaro is one brand within the wider group of medicines that act on gut-hormone pathways. Mounjaro contains tirzepatide, which activates two receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1.1 That dual action is what distinguishes it from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy and Ozempic).1 So Mounjaro is a GLP-1 medicine in the everyday sense, but it is not identical to the others.

Wegovy (semaglutide) is the main alternative. Its pens come in 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg once-weekly strengths. Titration steps up after at least 4 weeks and reaches the 2.4mg maintenance dose from week 17, and 2.4mg is the licensed maintenance dose for weight management.18 Your first Wegovy pen costs £99.99 as a first-order price.

Liraglutide (Saxenda, and products such as Erly) is supplied at 6mg per millilitre and is a daily injection, unlike once-weekly Mounjaro and Wegovy. Daily dosing is a practical consideration, and a prescriber can advise on figures and suitability.

Wegovy tablets and Foundayo are once-daily oral options; their prices are on the product pages. Separate trials cannot be compared as if head to head, so their results should not be set against Mounjaro's.

Which is cheapest depends on the medicine, the dose you reach and the provider. Rather than choosing by headline price, ask a prescriber which medicine suits your health and goals, then compare providers for that medicine. Our GLP-1 technology explainer covers how these medicines are made and delivered, and the all treatments page lists everything we offer.

One caution on terminology: you may see lists of GLP-1 medicines that include related compounds. Not everything with a similar name is a GLP-1 medicine. For instance, our guide on whether pramlintide is a GLP-1 explains why some similar-sounding drugs are different.

11 · Avoiding fake cheap pens

The cheapest option can be the most dangerous

A price far below the rest of the market is a warning sign, not a bargain. The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified.7 Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.7

Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites.12 Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation. Anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is not operating legitimately, whatever the price.

Genuine UK stock is supplied through Lilly's official distribution to licensed pharmacies, and every pen carries a batch number and expiry date that can be checked. Our Mounjaro comes direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution through official LillyDirect supply, as genuine KwikPens. Our GPhC registration number is 9012878, and you can look us up on the register.

A genuine pen arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution inside is clear and colourless. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, has been above 30°C, or has been out of the fridge for more than 30 days in use.13 If supply or packaging ever seems wrong, check the pharmacy on the GPhC register and contact the pharmacy before injecting.

If a seller's prices look too good, ask why, and do not let a saving of a few pounds a week put your health at risk.

Supplements marketed as natural alternatives deserve the same scepticism. They are low-cost supplements with no clinical oversight, and dosing is not standardised. They are not a like-for-like substitute for a licensed prescription medicine, and looking cheap is not the same as being good value.

12 · Practical ways to spend less

Practical, safe ways to reduce what you spend

There are several legitimate ways to lower your total spend on GLP-1 treatment. Here is a checklist you can work through.

1. Compare the full price. Look at dose, consultation fee, delivery and whether the price is for a 4-week pen. Our index of the UK pharmacies we track shows monthly pens from £143.96 to £339.00, so the provider you pick matters.

2. Use the discounts. A new customer's first order is £40 less with code FIRST40, and every later order is £25 less with code DOSE25. These apply at any dose, and our discount code page keeps the current values.

3. Do not stretch or split pens. Fortnightly dosing and extra-dose extraction are unlicensed and unsafe.

4. Check NHS eligibility. If you meet the current criteria, NHS care may cost far less. Ask your GP.

5. Support the medicine with habits. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. The GLPTrackr companion app is a free way to track your GLP-1 journey on iOS and Android.

6. Spread the cost if you need to. Klarna and pay-monthly options are available with no subscription lock-in.

When you are ready, start your free consultation. A GPhC-registered prescriber reviews every request, and if treatment is not suitable you are refunded automatically in full. Our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, by email at support@everydaymeds.co.uk, account portal chat or phone on 0333 207 0413.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Has the cost of GLP-1 been lowered?
Not across the board: Mounjaro's UK list price rose in September 2025, and pharmacy prices differ because of confidential discounts, so real savings come from comparing providers and using discounts. With us, a new customer's first order is £40 less with code FIRST40, and every later order is £25 off the standard price. Prices checked 12 October 2026.
What is the cheapest way to do GLP-1?
The safest low-cost route is a licensed prescription from a verified pharmacy, using available discounts. Across the UK pharmacies we track, the same-dose gap between providers runs from £27 to £41, so comparing matters. NHS care may cost less if you meet the current eligibility criteria, so ask your GP as well.
Is GLP-1 the same as Mounjaro?
Not exactly. GLP-1 is a class of medicines, while Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide. Tirzepatide activates two gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1, which distinguishes it from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy and Ozempic). So people often call Mounjaro a GLP-1 medicine, but the dual action means it is not identical to the others. A prescriber can explain which suits you.1
Which GLP-1 is best for weight loss in the UK?
There is no single best choice for everyone, so a prescriber should decide based on your health, history and goals. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide) are both licensed, effective once-weekly treatments. SURMOUNT-5 is the trial that compares tirzepatide directly with semaglutide, and results vary between individuals. Compare the Wegovy pen and the Mounjaro pen with a prescriber's input.15
Who cannot take GLP-1?
You should not take Mounjaro if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, and it should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. Your prescriber will take extra care, or may recommend against treatment, if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe gut or digestive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or gallbladder problems. Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention: seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin or eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. It is licensed for adults meeting BMI criteria, with a reduced-calorie diet and increased activity. Medicines such as insulin or sulfonylureas may need dose adjustment, and the medicine can reduce absorption of oral contraceptives because stomach emptying slows. The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.1 The patient information leaflet lists full warnings. Mounjaro must not be used during pregnancy, and it should be stopped at least one month before trying to conceive. If you become pregnant during treatment, stop the medicine and tell your prescriber promptly. If the prescriber decides treatment is not suitable, your order is refunded automatically in full.
Do I qualify for Mounjaro on the NHS?
Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition. The primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions. Ask your GP where you fall. If you do not yet qualify, regulated private treatment is an alternative.46
How can I lose 2 stone in 12 weeks on the NHS?
Trial results are averages and individual results vary. In SURMOUNT-1, average loss over 72 weeks was 15% on 5mg and 20.9% on 15mg, alongside diet and exercise. The NHS offers weight-management support, and Mounjaro access is phased by eligibility, starting with the highest-need groups. Your GP can explain which services you can use and what a realistic plan looks like for you.26
What shrinks belly fat fastest, and which foods should I drop?
Mounjaro works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports eating less. A prescriber or registered dietitian can build a plan around your health and preferences. Individual results vary.12
How do I know a cheap GLP-1 pen is genuine?
Check the pharmacy on the GPhC register first; never buy from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites. A genuine pen has a batch number and expiry date, arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution is clear and colourless. The MHRA has found fake pens, some containing insulin rather than tirzepatide. If anything looks wrong, do not inject; contact the pharmacy. Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation.712
