Free GLP-1 Recipes for Weight Loss: What to Cook and Eat (October 2026)

Free GLP-1 recipes are protein-led, fibre-rich meals in modest portions: Greek yoghurt smoothies, egg and vegetable bowls, grilled fish with pulses, and tofu stir-fries. They support a reduced-calorie diet and can make smaller appetites easier to manage. They do not act as GLP-1 medicine themselves.

A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • No food, smoothie or supplement can make your own GLP-1 medicine; recipes only support your eating habits.
  • Build meals around protein, vegetables, pulses and wholegrains, in smaller portions that suit a reduced appetite.
  • Smoothies work best as a protein-rich snack or light meal, not a sugary fruit-only drink.
  • If you take Mounjaro, treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.
  • Ask your prescriber or a registered dietitian about any medical diet needs, allergies or persistent nausea.
In this guide

01 · The core answer

What a GLP-1 recipe actually is

A GLP-1 recipe is simply a meal designed for someone with a reduced appetite who is trying to lose weight. The name is a label, not a medical category. No ingredient list contains or replicates the medicine.

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) activates two natural gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite and slow how quickly the stomach empties, so most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals.1 Good recipes make that smaller appetite count nutritionally.

The usual advice for a smaller appetite is consistent: lead with protein, add fibre from vegetables and pulses, keep portions modest and avoid foods that sit heavily. If you want a fuller structure, see our free GLP-1 meal plan and our collection of free GLP-1 diet recipes.

Free recipe frameworks you can adapt

Frameworks beat rigid recipes when appetite changes week to week. Pick one column from each row and adjust the portion to how hungry you feel.

MealBuild it fromWhy it suits a smaller appetite
Breakfast bowlGreek yoghurt or skyr, berries, oats, chopped nutsProtein and fibre in a small, easy-to-eat portion
Veg and egg scrambleEggs, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, wholegrain toastProtein-rich, gentle on the stomach, quick to make
Mediterranean chicken tray bakeChicken, courgette, peppers, olives, lemon, herbsLean protein with plenty of vegetables and little added fat
Bean and vegetable soupMixed beans, carrots, celery, tomatoes, stockFibre-rich, warming and easy to portion and freeze
Fish and pulse plateBaked white fish or salmon, lentils, steamed greensProtein with fibre, light but filling
Tofu stir-fryTofu, broccoli, pak choi, ginger, a little soy saucePlant protein with vegetables, low in saturated fat
Small-portion snackCottage cheese, cucumber, boiled egg, hummus with cruditésProtein-first snacks when a full meal feels too much

Cook in batches, season well and serve on a smaller plate. Flavour from herbs, citrus, spices and stock keeps meals interesting without heavy sauces.

03 · Smoothies

Free GLP-1 smoothie recipes

A good GLP-1 smoothie is a protein shake with fruit, not a fruit juice. The aim is something you can finish when you feel full quickly.

Use this method: blend a protein base (Greek yoghurt, skyr, kefir or unsweetened soya milk), a handful of leafy greens, a small amount of berries, and a fibre source such as oats or chia. Add a spoonful of nut butter for body. Skip honey, syrups and large amounts of banana or mango, which push up sugar without adding fullness.

Sip slowly. If a smoothie sits heavily, make it thinner or smaller. If you feel nauseous, try it cold and plain, then build up again once things settle.

Be wary of any smoothie or drink marketed as a natural GLP-1 booster or “nature's Ozempic”. Such products are low-cost supplements with no clinical oversight, and dramatic weight-loss claims should be treated with caution. Ozempic itself is semaglutide licensed for type 2 diabetes. It is not a UK weight-loss medicine, and a regulated UK pharmacy will not supply Ozempic for weight loss.

04 · Can you make GLP-1 naturally?

Can you make your own GLP-1 naturally?

Your gut already releases GLP-1 when you eat, but food cannot be turned into a medicine-strength version. Mounjaro is a prescription medicine that acts on the GIP and GLP-1 receptors in a way ordinary meals do not.1

Eating protein and fibre-rich meals is a reasonable eating principle, but it is not the same as treatment.

Supplements sold as natural alternatives are not standardised, so dosing is not standardised either. They are available cheaply without assessment, which is part of the problem. If you want medical support for weight management, speak to a prescriber rather than relying on a pantry swap.

05 · Eating well on Mounjaro

What to eat when you take Mounjaro

Mounjaro is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1 Recipes are the practical side of that sentence.

In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.1 That makes each meal matter more. A small plate of chips will leave less room for protein and vegetables, so build the plate in that order.

Useful habits many people find sensible:

  • Start the plate with protein, then add vegetables, then a small portion of wholegrain carbohydrate.
  • Eat slowly and stop when comfortably full rather than finishing the plate.
  • Choose grilled, baked, steamed or poached over deep-fried and very rich dishes.
  • Drink water regularly through the day.
  • Keep simple, plain foods on hand for days when your appetite is low.

If side effects such as nausea or stomach upset persist, tell your prescriber. If nausea or vomiting is persistent or you cannot keep fluids down, contact your clinical team — dehydration needs prompt attention. The patient information leaflet explains what to look out for and how to report side effects.13 Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing.

06 · What results to expect

What results to expect alongside your diet

Trial results show what treatment plus lifestyle change can do, and the numbers come from supervised studies rather than recipes. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2

These are trial averages. Individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2 Trial averages do not predict your own result.

No recipe or “fat-burning” food will deliver fast weight loss on its own, and we would be wary of anyone promising that. Steady habits you can keep matter more than a dramatic short-term plan. A free GLP-1 tracker helps you see your own pattern over time.

07 · Printable plans and cookbooks

Free PDFs, cookbooks and meal plans

Free downloadable plans are fine as inspiration, but check who wrote them. Look for a registered dietitian or nutritionist, clear allergen information and realistic portions. Avoid anything that promises specific results or sells a supplement alongside the plan.

If you prefer something printable, our GLP-1 diet plan PDF guide covers how to structure a week.

Remember that a plan written for the general public cannot account for your medicines, allergies or medical conditions. If you have a long-term condition, check changes to your diet with your prescriber or GP first.

08 · Is medication right for you?

When recipes are not enough

If diet changes alone have not been enough, a prescription option may be worth discussing. Mounjaro is licensed in the UK for weight management in adults, and it is a prescription-only medicine supplied after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber.1

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years.6 Some people choose regulated private treatment rather than wait.

At EverydayMeds, a GPhC-registered UK online pharmacy (registration 9012878), the consultation is free and there is no obligation. The Mounjaro pen starts at £169.99 for the 2.5mg strength, and new customers save £40 on their first order with code FIRST40. Delivery is free, next-day and tracked. You can read more on our weight loss clinic page, or compare the Wegovy pen.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
How do you make your own GLP-1 naturally?
You cannot make a medicine-strength GLP-1 from food. Your gut releases GLP-1 naturally when you eat, and protein- and fibre-rich meals suit a healthy diet, but no recipe or supplement replicates a prescription treatment. Be cautious of products claiming otherwise, and speak to a prescriber if you want medical support.
What is a GLP-1 diet recipe?
A GLP-1 diet recipe is a meal built for a smaller appetite: lean protein, vegetables, pulses or wholegrains, in modest portions and with little rich or fried food. The term is a label rather than a medical category, and the recipes suit anyone aiming for a reduced-calorie, nutritious diet.
What should I eat to lose weight on GLP-1?
Build meals around protein, add vegetables and fibre, and keep portions modest. Eggs, Greek yoghurt, fish, chicken, tofu, beans and lentils all fit. Mounjaro works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them. Ask your prescriber or a dietitian if you have particular medical needs.
How much weight can you lose on GLP-1 in a few months?
There is no safe short-term figure to promise. Trials measured results over 72 weeks, where people on tirzepatide lost on average 15% of body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg, alongside diet and exercise. Individual results vary, so trial averages do not predict your own result.
Which GLP-1 is best for fast weight loss?
We would not promise fast loss with any GLP-1 medicine. Mounjaro and Wegovy are both licensed treatments that work alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Which suits you depends on your health, history and preferences, so a prescriber's review matters more than chasing the quickest option.
Are there free GLP-1 smoothie recipes?
Yes. Blend a protein base such as Greek yoghurt or unsweetened soya milk with leafy greens, a small amount of berries, oats or chia, and a spoonful of nut butter. Keep sugar low and sip slowly. It is a light, filling snack, not a substitute for treatment.
Can I download a free GLP-1 recipe PDF?
Many free PDFs exist, so check authorship first. Prefer plans written by registered dietitians, with allergen information and realistic portions, and avoid any that promise specific results. You can start with our guide to a GLP-1 diet plan PDF and adapt it to your own needs.
