GLP-1 Complete is a dietary supplement, not a GLP-1 medicine. It is sold as capsules built around ingredients such as resistant starch and probiotics. It does not contain tirzepatide (Mounjaro) or semaglutide (Wegovy), and it has no licence for weight management. Licensed GLP-1 treatments are prescription-only. Prices checked 11 October 2026.

A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • GLP-1 Complete (also sold as Vital GLP-1 Complete) is a supplement. It is not a prescription GLP-1 medicine and is not the same as Mounjaro or Wegovy.
  • Supplement labels and marketing are not trial evidence, so treat claims of results from this product with caution.
  • Licensed GLP-1 medicines are assessed by a prescriber and supplied by a registered pharmacy. A supplement needs neither step.
  • Product reviews describe individual experiences. They cannot show whether a product works or is safe for you.
  • If you want a medicine rather than a supplement, a free online consultation is reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber.
In this guide

01 · The core answer

Is GLP-1 Complete the same as a GLP-1 medicine?

No. GLP-1 Complete is a food supplement, and the name describes what it is marketed to support rather than what it contains. Retailers describe it as a blend of resistant starch, probiotics and so-called metabolic activators, sold in vegan capsules. It does not contain a GLP-1 hormone or a prescription drug such as semaglutide.

A GLP-1 medicine is different. Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1 A supplement sits in a different regulatory category, with no prescriber, no dose titration and no comparable licensing process.

The shared word "GLP-1" is why people confuse them. Supplement makers use the term to suggest a link to the hormone pathway. Whether a given capsule meaningfully changes that pathway is a different question, and a product name cannot answer it.

Supplements are legal, widely sold and used by many people who are curious and cautious. The honest problem is the gap between what the name implies and what is known.

02 · Your decision

What should you do if you are weighing this up?

Decide first whether you want a supplement as a general wellbeing product or a treatment for weight management. They are not interchangeable. If your goal is meaningful, medically supervised weight loss, a supplement is not a substitute for a licensed medicine.

If you are unsure whether you are eligible for a licensed option, the sensible step is a conversation with a prescriber. Our weight loss clinic explains how the process works. If you already know you want Mounjaro, your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (the standard price is £169.99), and every later order is £25 off the standard price.

If you decide to stay with a supplement, tell your pharmacist or GP what you take, especially if you also use prescription medicines. Read our guide on whether GLP-1 products are a con for a wider look at spotting misleading claims.

03 · What the product is

What GLP-1 Complete actually is

GLP-1 Complete, sometimes written Vital GLP-1 Complete or GLP-1 Fit&Vital, is a capsule supplement. Retailers describe it as supporting appetite regulation, gut health and metabolic balance. Those are marketing categories, not licensed medical claims.

The ingredient list, as retailers describe it, centres on fermentable fibre such as resistant starch, plus probiotic strains and plant or nutrient extracts described as metabolic activators. Supplement dosing is not standardised, and a number on a label does not tell you what the capsule does in your body.

It is worth separating three ideas that product pages often blur together. A food ingredient can be good for you without being a weight-loss treatment. A product can be safe to take without being effective. And a product can be marketed in the language of medicine without being one. GLP-1 Complete falls in the first group at best, and its name sits much closer to the third.

Many different companies use similar naming. You may see sachets, drops and powders sold under comparable labels. Our pages on GLP-1 sachets and GLP-1 oral solutions explain how to read those products without being misled by the name.

04 · Do supplements work?

Do GLP-1 supplements really work?

There is no published trial evidence showing that they do.

A supplement is not assessed in the way a prescription medicine is assessed. It has not produced a trial result comparable to the licensed medicines, and it cannot be described as a replacement for them. If a seller offers dramatic weight-loss claims for a capsule, treat the claim as marketing until independent trial evidence says otherwise.

Fibre and probiotics are ordinary dietary components, and many people include them in meals anyway. Eating more fibre-rich food is a reasonable, low-risk habit, but it is a nutrition choice rather than a pharmacological effect. Calling it "nature's Ozempic" overstates it badly. Ozempic and Wegovy contain semaglutide, a medicine. A fibre capsule does not.

If you take a supplement and feel it helps, that is a personal experience. It tells you something about you, not about whether the product reliably works for others.

05 · Reading the reviews

How to read Vital GLP-1 Complete reviews

Reviews are opinions, not evidence. They are useful for questions such as whether the capsules were easy to swallow or delivery was quick, and much less useful for whether the product caused any change in weight.

There are good reasons for that. People who feel they benefited are more likely to write a review than people who noticed nothing. Reviewers are also usually changing other habits at the same time, such as diet, activity or sleep, so credit for any change cannot be pinned on a capsule. Some reviews on retail sites are incentivised or poorly verified.

A fairer approach is to ask four questions of any product page. Does it name an independent, published trial of this exact product? Does it state the regulatory status plainly? Does it tell you who should not take it? Does it avoid promising specific results? If the answer to most is no, the reviews will not fill the gap.

06 · How licensed medicines differ

How licensed GLP-1 medicines differ

Licensed GLP-1 medicines contain a defined active drug at a controlled dose, and their effects have been measured in trials. Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin.1

In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet. This dual action is what distinguishes Mounjaro from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy/Ozempic).11

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages. Individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.

A supplement page that cannot point to anything similar is telling you something by omission.

Wegovy is the other widely known licensed injection. You can see current options on the Wegovy pen page.

07 · Buying safely

Where to buy GLP-1 products safely

Buy supplements from reputable retailers and buy prescription GLP-1 medicines only from a registered pharmacy after a consultation. The two are different purchases and should not be mixed up.

A seller offering a genuine prescription medicine without a consultation or prescription is a warning sign in itself. The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts and runs the Yellow Card scheme for reporting suspected problems.7

Before buying any prescription medicine online, check the pharmacy's registration on the GPhC public register. Ours is GPhC 9012878, and you can verify it directly with the regulator. Our Mounjaro comes through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution, as genuine KwikPens.

If you suspect a side effect from any medicine or supplement, you can report it through the Yellow Card scheme, even if you are not certain the product caused it.19 Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing.

If you are curious about other product types in this space, such as biologics or lab tests, see our explainers on whether GLP-1 products are biologics and on the GLP-1 assay, which is a laboratory measurement and not a treatment.

08 · NHS and private routes

NHS and private routes to a licensed GLP-1

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions).46

Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. If you do not meet the NHS criteria, a private prescriber can still assess whether the licence applies to you.

The private route works like this. You complete a free online consultation, a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it, and if you are suitable, the pharmacy dispenses and dispatches. Same-day dispatch applies when you order by 3pm, and delivery is free, tracked and next-day in temperature-controlled packaging. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

09 · Staying on track

Sticking with any weight plan

Whatever you choose, consistency matters more than the product name. Supplements and medicines alike are used alongside diet and activity, and the habits that surround them decide a good deal of how the experience goes.

For people on a licensed treatment, ongoing monthly reviews, dose titration and side-effect support are part of safe use. Repeat orders re-check suitability, and there is no auto-shipping. Our companion app, GLPTrackr, is free on iOS and Android for logging doses, symptoms and progress.

If you want to understand why people stop treatments and how to avoid it, our guide to GLP-1 adherence covers practical steps. It is useful whether you are on a medicine or considering one.

Finally, be wary of any product that promises specific results or says you can skip diet and activity. Honest products do not need to.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
What is GLP-1 Complete?
GLP-1 Complete is a dietary supplement sold as capsules. Retailers describe it as a blend of resistant starch, probiotics and other plant or nutrient ingredients marketed to support appetite and gut health. It is not a prescription medicine, contains no semaglutide or tirzepatide, and is not licensed for weight management.
Is GLP-1 the same as Mounjaro?
No. GLP-1 is a natural gut hormone and a drug class. Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, which activates both GIP and GLP-1 receptors. It is a once-weekly prescription injection licensed in the UK for weight management and type 2 diabetes. A supplement with GLP-1 in its name is a different thing altogether.
Do GLP-1 supplements really work?
There is no published trial evidence showing that GLP-1 supplements work. Licensed medicines such as Mounjaro have named, published trials behind them. A supplement is not a substitute, and dramatic weight-loss claims on its packaging should be treated as marketing.
Which GLP-1 is best for weight loss in the UK?
Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide) are the licensed GLP-1-based injections for weight management in the UK. Neither is best for everyone. The right one depends on your health, other medicines and tolerance, which a prescriber reviews during a consultation. A supplement is not a licensed option.
Which GLP-1 works fastest for weight loss?
No medicine should be chosen on speed alone. Results vary between people, and trial averages do not predict your own result. A prescriber can advise on realistic expectations.
Can I buy GLP-1 pills on Amazon?
You may find supplements marketed with GLP-1 in the name on large marketplaces, but these are not prescription GLP-1 medicines. Genuine prescription GLP-1 treatments should only be supplied by a registered pharmacy after a consultation and prescription. Be wary of any seller offering to supply without a consultation or prescription.
Do GLP-1 pills from Amazon really work?
Marketplace listings and reviews are not clinical evidence. If you want a licensed treatment, a prescriber needs to assess you first, and the medicine must come from a registered pharmacy.
Where can I buy GLP-1 medication for weight loss?
Buy prescription GLP-1 medication from a UK-registered pharmacy after a consultation reviewed by a prescriber. You can check registration on the GPhC register; ours is GPhC 9012878. Our free consultation leads to a Mounjaro pen if you are suitable, with free next-day tracked delivery.
