  • Mild nausea and tiredness are common early effects and usually settle; tell your prescriber about anything new or persistent.

In this guide

01 · The short answer

Do you need electrolytes with weight loss injections?

The licensed regimen is one injection a week, used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1 Our Mounjaro and electrolytes guide goes into more detail.

Whether electrolyte products suit you depends on your health, your other medicines and how you feel on treatment, so ask a prescriber who knows you.

02 · Getting started

How to get a weight loss injection properly

Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber.1 Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99). Every later order is £25 off the standard price, and all six doses are in stock.

  • Free consultation: a short health questionnaire, with no charge and no obligation. Start your free consultation.
  • Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
  • Dispatch and delivery: same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm, with free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled packaging.

03 · What treatment involves

What Mounjaro treatment actually involves

Mounjaro is tirzepatide, a once-weekly injection licensed in the UK for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes.1 Everyone starts on 2.5mg, which is about letting your body adjust rather than weight loss itself. After at least 4 weeks the dose can step up gradually to a maximum of 15mg.1

In SURMOUNT-1, adults lost on average 15% of body weight on 5mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. These are trial averages and individual results vary.2

04 · Early side effects

Early side effects and when to ask for advice

Mild nausea, altered appetite and tiredness in the first days after each injection are the commonest early effects, and they usually settle.1 Experiences differ widely between people.

If you notice anything new or that does not settle, speak to your prescriber rather than self-treating with supplements. If nausea or vomiting is persistent or you cannot keep fluids down, contact your clinical team — dehydration needs prompt attention. You can also report suspected side effects through the Yellow Card scheme.19 Our guide on whether weight loss injections are safe covers the wider picture.

05 · Spotting unsafe sellers

Beware add-on "electrolyte" or fat-burning injection offers

Be cautious of any seller offering to supply injections without a consultation or prescription, or promising specific results. Counterfeit medicine alerts are published by the MHRA.7 You can check any UK pharmacy on the GPhC register (ours is 9012878).12

Our guide to fraudulent weight loss injections explains what to look for. Our Mounjaro comes through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution.

06 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Start your free consultation

Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.

Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Do I need electrolytes when taking weight loss injections?
Electrolytes are not part of the licensed Mounjaro regimen, which is a weekly injection alongside a reduced-calorie diet and more activity. Whether any product suits you depends on your health and other medicines, so ask your prescriber.
Are there electrolyte injections for weight loss?
Be wary of anyone offering injections without a consultation or prescription. Licensed treatments such as Mounjaro are supplied only after review by a GPhC-registered prescriber.
What are the common early side effects of Mounjaro?
Mild nausea, altered appetite and tiredness in the first days after each injection are the commonest early effects, and they usually settle. If something new or persistent appears, tell your prescriber and consider reporting it through the Yellow Card scheme.
How much does Mounjaro cost in the UK?
The 2.5mg starting pen costs £169.99 per month at the standard price. New customers save £40 on their first order with code FIRST40, and every later order is £25 off the standard price. Prices checked 10 October 2026. See the Mounjaro pen page for all six doses.
Who can be prescribed a weight loss injection?
Mounjaro is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or between 27 and 30 with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes. A prescriber assesses your BMI, history and current medicines first. Our weight loss treatments page compares options, including Wegovy.
Can I get weight loss injections on the NHS?
Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus a weight-related condition, and the primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first. Many people choose regulated private treatment instead of waiting.
Do weight loss injections suit everyone, including people with thyroid conditions?
Suitability is decided individually by a prescriber who reviews your medical history and current medicines. Mounjaro is not suitable for everyone: you should not take it if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients, and it should not be used during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. Your prescriber will take extra care, or may recommend against treatment, if you have a history of pancreatitis, severe gut or digestive disease, diabetic retinopathy, or gallbladder problems. Mounjaro should be stopped at least one month before trying to conceive; if you become pregnant during treatment, stop the medicine and tell your prescriber promptly. Our guide on weight loss injections and thyroid problems explains what to raise during your consultation. Read the weight loss injections hub for the full overview.
