In this guide
01 · Availability
Is Mounjaro available right now?
Yes. At EverydayMeds all six doses (2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg) are in stock, and you can see the live state on the Mounjaro pen product page. We supply genuine KwikPens through official LillyDirect supply, which means the medicine comes direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution rather than through an unknown intermediary.
It also helps to separate two questions that get blended together. The first is whether a pharmacy physically holds the pen. The second is whether you are eligible to be prescribed it. Even where stock exists, nobody can simply buy Mounjaro: it is a prescription-only medicine, and a prescriber has to decide it is right for you first. You can read more about whether anyone can get Mounjaro in our eligibility guide.
02 · Cost
What Mounjaro costs with us
Each pen lasts four weeks, so prices are monthly. The standard price of the 2.5mg starter pen is £169.99, the 5mg pen is £218.99, 7.5mg is £279.99, 10mg is £290.99, 12.5mg is £319.99 and 15mg is £329.99. Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99). Switching to us at 15mg? Your first order is £289.99. Every later order is £25 off the standard price (code DOSE25).
Across the UK pharmacies we track, the cheapest and dearest Mounjaro pens (all doses) run from £143.96 to £339.00 per month, as checked on 10 October 2026. The cheapest and dearest 2.5mg starter pens run from £143.96 to £179.99. For the same dose, the gap between providers ranges from £27 to £41. Because those gaps are real, it is worth comparing before ordering, and our guide to which pharmacies have Mounjaro shows how to do that.
The consultation is free and the price shown is the price paid, with no hidden fees. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. You can pay by Visa or Mastercard, Klarna or pay-monthly options, and there is no subscription.
03 · Ordering
How ordering works in three steps
Ordering is a short, regulated process, and each step is the same whichever dose you need.
- Free online consultation. Complete a short health questionnaire. It is free with no obligation. Start your free consultation here.
- Prescriber review. A GPhC-registered prescriber reviews your answers, not a scoring script. Unsuitable orders are refunded automatically.
- Dispensing and delivery. Our registered pharmacy dispenses your pen, with same-day dispatch when ordered by 3pm. Delivery is free, next-day, tracked (DPD) in temperature-controlled, discreet packaging. Saturday delivery is £14.99.
Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order. Repeat orders re-check suitability and nothing ships automatically, so you stay in control of each month's supply. Our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, on 0333 207 0413 or at support@everydaymeds.co.uk.
04 · What stock really means
What "having Mounjaro" actually means
First, does a pharmacy hold the pen physically? Second, can that pharmacy supply it to you legally? Third, is the exact strength you need available? A pharmacy might answer yes to the first and no to the third, which is why vague claims of availability are unhelpful.
Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes. It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen, called a KwikPen, in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1 Because there are six strengths, availability is really six separate questions. Someone starting treatment needs the 2.5mg pen. Someone moving up the dose ladder needs the next strength up, and someone switching from another provider may need a high maintenance strength straight away.
That last group is where availability problems tend to be felt first. A pharmacy that stocks starter pens only will not help a person who needs 12.5mg this week. We stock all six strengths, which is why people who are mid-treatment and need continuity often ask us first. All six doses are currently in stock.
The second question, whether the pharmacy can lawfully supply you, matters just as much. Mounjaro is prescription-only. A legitimate pharmacy will always ask for a consultation and a prescriber's decision before dispatch. If you see a seller who offers to supply without a consultation or prescription, treat that as a warning sign rather than a convenience.
Finally, remember that pharmacies in the UK can obtain Mounjaro from different routes. Ours is official LillyDirect supply: genuine KwikPens sourced directly from Eli Lilly's UK distribution. Knowing a pharmacy's supply route is one of the quickest ways to judge how reliable its availability claims are. For a wider look at how supply is described across providers, see our page on Mounjaro stock levels across the UK.
So the short version is this. Yes, someone has Mounjaro, and we do for every strength. But the useful question is whether the exact strength you need is available from a registered pharmacy that will assess you properly, at a price you have compared.
05 · Checking a pharmacy
How to check whether a pharmacy is genuine
Before you pay anyone for Mounjaro, spend five minutes on verification, because counterfeit and unregulated weight-loss injections are a recognised problem. The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts and runs the Yellow Card scheme for reporting suspected problems.7 A genuine pharmacy makes checking easy.
Start with the register. Every legitimate UK online pharmacy appears on the General Pharmaceutical Council's public register, and the registration number should be displayed on its website.12 Ours is GPhC 9012878, and you can look it up on the GPhC register yourself. Do not rely on a logo alone; search the number on the register and confirm the website address matches.
Next, look at the process. A regulated pharmacy will ask you to complete a health consultation, and a prescriber will review it. If a seller offers to supply without a consultation or prescription, walk away. The same goes for sellers on social media, in private messages or through unlicensed marketplaces, however convincing the photos are.
Then look at the price relative to what you have seen elsewhere. Across the UK pharmacies we track, Mounjaro pens run from £143.96 to £339.00 per month across all doses (checked 10 October 2026). A price far below that range, with no explanation, deserves suspicion rather than excitement. Equally, a price far above it is worth querying. Pharmacy sell prices vary because of confidential discounts from the manufacturer, so some variation is normal, but wild variation is not.
Check what the pharmacy tells you about the medicine itself. A trustworthy provider describes Mounjaro as a prescription medicine used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and avoids dramatic weight-loss claims or promises of specific results. Be wary of anyone who sells "Mounjaro" in vials, powders or unlabelled products, or who describes it as a supplement. The licensed product is the pre-filled KwikPen in six strengths, from 2.5mg to 15mg.
Finally, check the aftercare. A good pharmacy offers ongoing reviews, dose-titration support and a way to reach a real person. We include monthly clinical reviews, side-effect support and phone and email support on weekdays from 9am to 5pm. If something goes wrong with a medicine, you can also report it yourself through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme, which is open to patients as well as professionals.19
A quick checklist: registered on the GPhC register, consultation required, prescriber review, clear supply route, sensible price, genuine KwikPen, and contactable support. If a seller fails any of those, do not buy from them, regardless of how available the product appears.
06 · Who can have Mounjaro
Who can have Mounjaro?
Not everyone can, and that is the correct answer to the question "can anyone have Mounjaro". Availability of the pen does not decide eligibility; the licence and a prescriber's judgement do.
Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.1 A prescriber will assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable for you.1
Two people with the same BMI can get different decisions, because the review looks at the whole picture, including what else you take. If you are on other medicines, say so in the consultation.
There is also a broader question of whether anyone can simply have a weight-loss injection. The short answer is no: the same prescriber-led approach applies to every prescription weight-loss injection. Our page on whether anyone can have the weight loss injection covers that comparison.
What if you are outside the criteria? If your BMI is below 27, or between 27 and 30 with no weight-related condition, you are outside the licensed criteria for weight management and we cannot supply on that basis. That is not a judgement about you; it is how the licence works, and a legitimate pharmacy will tell you the same.
What if you are within the criteria but the prescriber still declines? This does happen, and it is a safety decision. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. You are not left out of pocket.
What results might eligible people expect? In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages and individual results vary. For example, for someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.2
Eligibility, then, is the real gate, not the pen. If you meet the licensed criteria, you can begin a free consultation and let a prescriber decide.
07 · NHS and private
NHS or private: where can you get it?
Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.
Putting that plainly: if you are in one of the early NHS groups, your GP practice is a sensible first conversation, and an NHS prescription would carry only the usual prescription arrangements. The NHS also publishes a general guide to the medicine, which you can read at the NHS website.5 If you are not yet in an early group, the private route is the alternative. Both are legitimate; they differ in timing, criteria and cost.
The criteria differ because the NHS prioritises by need within a limited rollout, while the licence defines who may be prescribed Mounjaro privately. The licensed private criteria are broader: a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 to 30 with a weight-related condition.
Which should you pick? Consider three things. First, whether you are likely to qualify for the NHS now, based on the phased rollout groups. Second, how long you are willing to wait. Third, what you can afford each month. There is no wrong answer, and nothing stops you asking your GP first and choosing private treatment if the timing does not suit you.
On the cost side, private treatment means paying the pen price each month. At our standard prices, a month at the 2.5mg starter is £169.99, and a new customer's first order is £40 less with code FIRST40.
One more point: using a private pharmacy does not close the NHS door. If you later become eligible through the phased rollout, you can discuss moving with your GP. Keeping your GP informed about any medicine you take is good practice anyway, since it helps them look after your wider health.
08 · Why a GP may say no
Can my GP prescribe it, and why might they say no?
Your GP can prescribe tirzepatide on the NHS where you fall within the groups being prioritised in the phased rollout, but they cannot extend it beyond that. If you have asked and been refused, the reason is usually about where the rollout has reached, not about you personally.
NICE recommends Mounjaro for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first (initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions).46 Full rollout is expected to take years. So a GP who says you do not yet qualify may be applying the stage the rollout has reached locally.
There are other reasons a prescriber might decline, and they are clinical. A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether Mounjaro is suitable.1 If your history or other medicines make it unsuitable, the answer may be no, and that applies equally to NHS and private prescribers. It is a safety check working as intended.
What can you do if your GP says no? You have a few sensible options. Ask which rollout group you fall into and whether that might change. Ask whether there are NHS weight-management services you can access in the meantime, since NHS access to Wegovy, for instance, runs through specialist weight-management services, so ask your GP. And if you meet the licensed criteria and want to start sooner, you can have a free consultation with a regulated online pharmacy.
What you should not do is treat a refusal as a reason to buy from an unregulated source. If a regulated prescriber declines, an unregulated seller offering the same medicine with no questions asked is more risky, not less. Our own prescribers can also decline, and when they do your order is refunded automatically.
If you are curious how our process compares, you can begin a free consultation without obligation. Payment is taken when you place the order and is refunded automatically in full if a GPhC-registered prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, and you can take the outcome back to your own GP if you wish. Being open with your GP about everything you take is always sensible.
09 · A year of costs
Planning the cost over a year
The honest way to think about Mounjaro cost is across a full year, not a single pen, because treatment normally steps up in dose before settling. All figures here are standard prices before discounts, and a new customer's first order is £40 less, with every later order £25 less.
| Phase | Pens | Cost (standard prices) |
|---|---|---|
| First year if you settle at 5mg | 13 (52 weeks) | £2,711.88 |
| First year if you settle at 15mg | 13 (52 weeks) | £3,599.88 |
If you settle somewhere between, the monthly price is the useful figure: £279.99 at 7.5mg, £290.99 at 10mg and £319.99 at 12.5mg per pen. Weekly, that works out at £42.50 at 2.5mg, £54.75 at 5mg, £70.00 at 7.5mg, £72.75 at 10mg, £80.00 at 12.5mg and £82.50 at 15mg. Each pen covers four weeks.
Notice what these numbers tell you. Higher doses cost more per pen, so where you settle drives your year cost more than anything else. A prescriber decides your dose through monthly reviews, so you do not choose it yourself on price.
High street pricing is another reference point. Boots' lowest and highest Mounjaro dose prices run from £179.00 to £339.00 per month, as tracked on 10 October 2026. Across the UK pharmacies we track, the gap between providers for the same dose ranges from £27 to £41, which is why comparing the same dose is the only fair method.
Payment is flexible. We accept Visa and Mastercard, Klarna and pay-monthly options, and there are no subscriptions, so you are never locked in. To see everything in one place, our weight loss treatments overview sets out the alternatives alongside Mounjaro.
10 · How it works
How Mounjaro helps with weight loss
Mounjaro helps by acting on two gut-hormone pathways at once, which makes most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals. Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin.1
In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.1 That framing is important. The medicine does not replace diet and activity; it makes following a reduced-calorie diet more manageable. This dual action is what distinguishes Mounjaro from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy and Ozempic).1
What do trials show? In SURMOUNT-1, which included 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20% of their body weight.2
These are trial averages, and trial averages do not predict your own result. Individual results vary, and nobody can promise a specific outcome. Worked example only: for someone starting at 100 kg, 15% is about 15 kg and 20.9% is about 21 kg, but that is simple arithmetic on the trial average, not a forecast for you.
Why does the dose ladder exist? Treatment starts at 2.5mg and moves through the strengths, which is how the six pen strengths fit together. Your prescriber reviews you monthly and adjusts the dose with you. That review is part of what you receive, and it is why we do not describe any single dose as the one to aim for.
How long does it stay in your system? Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4 to 5 weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.1 That is useful to know if you pause treatment or are discussing changes with your prescriber.
To see what early weeks can look like in context, our hub page on Mounjaro before and after one month describes the typical first month. Treat any before-and-after story as an illustration, never a promise.
11 · Storage and delivery
Storing and receiving your pen
Your pen arrives in temperature-controlled packaging and should go into the fridge as soon as you open the parcel. Unopened pens are stored in the fridge until first use and they keep until the printed expiry date. For any question about how long an unopened pen can be out of the fridge, check the patient information leaflet and ask the pharmacy rather than guessing.13
Once you have started a pen, it can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days after first use, and must then be thrown away. Do not use a pen that has been above 30°C or has been frozen.1 Follow the pen's instructions for each injection. Always read the patient information leaflet that comes with your pen.13
Our delivery is free next-day tracked delivery with DPD, in temperature-controlled, discreet packaging. Same-day dispatch applies when you order by 3pm. Saturday delivery is available for £14.99. Because the pen needs the fridge, it helps to arrange delivery for a time when someone can receive it, and tracking lets you plan around that.
Every order includes needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance. If a pen arrives faulty, damaged or the wrong item, contact us within 3 days. Dispensed prescription medicines otherwise cannot be returned, which is standard for prescription medicines, and refunds, where they apply, take 5 to 10 working days. Declined consultations are refunded automatically in full.
What should you be careful about while on treatment? Mounjaro is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, so those are the habits to keep.1 Tell your prescriber about every medicine you take. Mounjaro slows stomach emptying, which can reduce how well oral contraceptive pills are absorbed, so discuss contraception with your prescriber.7 The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.1 If you take insulin or sulfonylureas, doses may need adjusting because of the risk of low blood sugar, so your prescriber needs to know.11
If you notice a new symptom after starting, tell your prescriber and report it through the Yellow Card scheme. Seek immediate medical help for severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing.19 Our team provides side-effect support, ongoing monthly reviews and dose-titration, so you are not left to work things out alone. If you want a companion for tracking, GLPTrackr is our free app for iOS and Android, built to help you log your GLP-1 journey.
Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. It is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Individual results vary. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.
How ordering works
How ordering works at EverydayMeds
Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.
Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes
Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.
Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day
A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.
Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery
Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.
Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.
Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.
