A quick overview

What to know
before you start.

  • "Lipo injection" can mean several different products, so the price depends on what a clinic is actually injecting and how many sessions it advises.
  • We do not supply lipo injections; always ask for a written quote covering the full course.
  • Mounjaro is licensed in the UK for weight management and costs £169.99 per month at the 2.5mg starting dose.
  • A first year costs £2,711.88 if you stay on 5mg after your 2.5mg starting pen, up to £3,599.88 if you step up through every dose to 15mg, before discounts.
  • New customers save £40 on their first order with code FIRST40, and every later order is £25 off.
In this guide

01 · Cost

What lipo injections for weight loss really cost

There is no single price for lipo injections, because the term covers different products sold under one name. Clinics usually price by treatment area, vial or session, and often sell courses. We do not supply these products.

Ask every clinic the same questions and get the answers in writing before you pay anything.

Question to askWhy it changes the real cost
What exactly is in the injection?Different products carry different regulatory status and evidence; the name "lipo" tells you nothing.
How many sessions are advised, and how often?A single-session price is rarely the total; courses multiply it.
Is a consultation or aftercare charged separately?Extra fees can change the comparison.
Who prescribes and who injects? You should be able to verify a prescriber and pharmacy on the relevant register.
What evidence is there for weight loss specifically? If the answer is vague, treat the price as paying for an uncertain outcome.
What happens if it does not work?Find out about refunds before you commit to a course.

Compare that with a licensed route. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is licensed in the UK for weight management in adults who meet the BMI criteria.1 Our consultation is free, and the price shown is the price paid. Our Mounjaro pen costs £169.99 per month at the 2.5mg starting dose. Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with code FIRST40 (standard price £169.99).

02 · Planning

What a licensed injection costs over time

Mounjaro pricing is predictable because each pen holds four weekly doses and each dose has a set price. The table uses standard prices before any discount.

PhaseWhat it coversCost at standard price
Starter pen2.5mg, four weekly doses£169.99
First year staying on 5mg2.5mg starting pen, then 5mg, 13 pens£2,711.88
First year stepping up to 15mgEvery dose from 2.5mg, then 15mg, 13 pens£3,599.88
Other maintenance doses, per month7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg£279.99, £290.99, £319.99

A new customer's first order is £40 less with code FIRST40, at any dose, including people switching to us at a higher dose. An automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25). All six doses are in stock. You can start with our free consultation, and see Mounjaro discount code details for how the current offers work.

A licensed treatment still needs a clinical decision. A prescriber will assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether Mounjaro is suitable.1 You can browse all weight loss treatments to see where it sits among the other options we offer.

03 · Which lipo injection

Which "lipo injection" are you pricing?

Start by pinning down the product, because the label "lipo injection" is used loosely. Some clinics use it for injections marketed around vitamins and nutrients, and others use it for injections aimed at a small, localised area of the body. They are different things, they are priced differently, and they should not be compared as if they were one product. Our related guides on lipo b injections and on lipo weight loss injections go through the naming in more detail.

We do not supply these products. Treat any website that gives their prices, dosing or expected results with caution unless it cites a verifiable source. When a clinic says a number of pounds or inches will come off, ask where the figure comes from. Promises of specific results are a warning sign, because treatment response differs from person to person even with licensed medicines.

The same applies to supplements and related products. Low-cost supplements sold as shortcuts are available cheaply without any assessment, and they come with no clinical oversight. Cheapness is not the same as value. A low price for something with no evidence and no prescriber review is still money spent without a reliable outcome.

Questions that expose vague pricing

Ask whether the quote is per session, per area or per course. Ask what the follow-up looks like and whether it costs extra. Ask who will review you if you feel unwell afterwards, and how you would report a side effect. In the UK you can report suspected side effects for any medicine through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.19

Finally, check the provider. A genuine pharmacy appears on the GPhC register, and you can look up ours using registration number 9012878.12 If a seller cannot be found on a regulator's register, do not hand over payment details. This single check protects you more than any price comparison. The guide on buying lipo injections online covers the checks in more detail.

Until you have those four things in writing, any number you have seen is not a real quote. A useful habit is to ask each clinic to email the quote so you can compare line by line at home, away from any sales conversation. If a clinic is reluctant to put the details in writing, take that as information about how it will treat you later.

04 · How Mounjaro works

How Mounjaro works for weight management

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes. It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen (KwikPen) in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1

Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin. In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet.1 This dual action is what distinguishes Mounjaro from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy/Ozempic).

That is a different mechanism from anything a lipo injection claims to do, and it is a helpful way to think about cost. With a licensed medicine you are paying for a defined active ingredient at a defined dose, supplied through a regulated pharmacy, with a prescriber reviewing whether it suits you.

Who it is licensed for

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.14 A prescriber will assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable for you.

That assessment matters for cost too. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. So the real financial risk of finding out you are not eligible is low with us, whereas a clinic that takes a non-refundable deposit before any assessment shifts that risk onto you.

How long it stays in the body

Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.1 It is worth knowing when planning, because the effects of one pen are not confined to a single week.

Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Individual results vary, and this page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.

05 · What results to expect

What results to expect from Mounjaro

Trial evidence for Mounjaro is substantial. In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2

These are trial averages. Individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them. For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg, but trial averages do not predict your own result.

At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20% of their body weight.2

The realistic pace

Weight loss on Mounjaro is gradual by design. The first weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase and losses are usually modest. Most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month. Trials measured results at 72 weeks, so think in months, not days, and judge progress by trend rather than individual weigh-ins.1

Some people notice appetite change and early loss in week one, others feel little until a higher dose, and both are normal. Early loss includes water weight, so the trend over weeks matters more than any single weigh-in. Mild nausea, altered appetite and tiredness in the first days after each injection are the commonest early effects and usually settle.13

Review points

Treatment response is reviewed by your prescriber. If you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, your prescriber will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you.1 This built-in review is another thing to look for when comparing any weight-loss injection. Ask whether the provider has a defined point at which they check that the treatment is working, and what they will do if it is not.

We include ongoing monthly clinical reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments by the prescribing team, plus side-effect support.

06 · A year of costs

Planning a year of Mounjaro costs

The cleanest way to compare treatments is the cost of a full year, not a single appointment. A year on Mounjaro is 52 weeks and 13 pens. At standard prices, before discounts, a first year costs £2,711.88 if you stay on 5mg after your 2.5mg starting pen, up to £3,599.88 if you step up through every dose to 15mg.

Those two figures are the extremes for people who stay on 5mg after the 2.5mg starting pen, or step up through every dose to 15mg. Many people settle at a maintenance dose of 5mg, 10mg or 15mg, and higher is not automatically better.1 If you settle elsewhere, use that dose's monthly price: £279.99 at 7.5mg, £290.99 at 10mg or £319.99 at 12.5mg.

What the first four pens cost

If you step up after 4 weeks on each of 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg and 10mg, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96 at standard prices. The 2.5mg pen costs £169.99, the 5mg pen £218.99, and the 7.5mg pen £279.99.

These are standard prices. A new customer's first order is £40 less with code FIRST40, and every later order is £25 less (code DOSE25). The weekly equivalents are £42.50 at 2.5mg, £54.75 at 5mg and £82.50 at 15mg.

Payment options

We accept Visa and Mastercard, Klarna and pay-monthly options. There are no subscriptions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping, so you control each month. That makes a year of cost easier to plan: you can pause if your circumstances change, and you will not be charged for a pen you did not ask for.

A fair comparison with any course of lipo injections is simple: add up every session, every consultation fee and every follow-up for the same 12 months, then compare the total against the evidence you were shown. Do the sum yourself rather than relying on a headline price.

07 · NHS or private

NHS or private: the honest picture

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46

Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.5 Your GP can tell you where you sit in the local rollout. If you are eligible for NHS treatment, the prescription charge in England is £9.90 per item; check whether you are exempt.

Why this matters when pricing lipo injections

People often look at lipo injections because they assume the NHS route is closed to them and private options are all similar. They are not similar. A private licensed medicine goes through a prescriber who checks your BMI, history and current medicines. Many lipo-style clinic treatments are not designed around a weight-management licence at all. If you are weighing the two, ask what clinical assessment you receive and what evidence supports the product for the goal you have.

Choosing between waiting and paying

If you are not yet eligible on the NHS and cannot wait, a regulated private pharmacy is the option closest to the NHS standard of care. The Mounjaro you receive is the same licensed medicine, supplied by Eli Lilly through official distribution to licensed pharmacies.1 Ours comes through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution.

If you do not meet the licensed criteria, a prescriber may not be able to treat you, and that is a good outcome of the process rather than a failure of it: it is the system working as designed to protect you. You can read about related options on our GAC injection and ALA injection pages, which explain how to evaluate those products' claims.

08 · Safety and fakes

Safety: counterfeits and shortcuts

When the price is the main concern, safety is where people are most exposed. The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.7

Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites.12 Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation. Anyone offering to supply without a consultation or prescription is a warning sign, however attractive the price.

Checking your pen

A genuine UK Mounjaro pen comes from a registered pharmacy with a batch number and expiry date, arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution inside is clear and colourless. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, or has been above 30°C or out of the fridge for more than 30 days in use. If supply or packaging ever seems wrong, check the pharmacy on the GPhC register and contact the pharmacy before injecting.13

If you notice a side effect, you can report it through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.19

09 · Using the pen

Using the pen: dosing, missed doses and storage

Everyone starts Mounjaro on 2.5mg once a week. This starting dose is about letting your body adjust, not about weight loss itself. After at least 4 weeks the dose increases to 5mg, and can then step up by 2.5mg at a minimum of 4-week intervals (7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg) up to a maximum of 15mg weekly, depending on how you respond and tolerate it.1 Your prescriber guides the pace.

Injecting

Mounjaro is injected under the skin once a week, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food. Licensed injection sites are the stomach area (at least 5cm from the belly button), the front of the thigh, or the back of the upper arm if someone else gives the injection. Rotate the site with each dose. Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance are included with every order.13

Missed doses and changing day

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can within 4 days (96 hours) of the scheduled time, then carry on with your usual day. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take the next one on your normal day. Never take two doses within 3 days of each other. You can change your injection day as long as at least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since your last dose.1

Storage and travel

Keep pens in a fridge at 2–8°C and never freeze them. Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge not above 30°C for up to 30 days, after which it should be discarded. Keep the cap on to protect it from light. You can fly with Mounjaro: carry pens in hand luggage, ideally in a cool bag with the prescription label or a copy of your prescription. Unopened pens should be kept in the fridge and keep until the expiry date printed on the box. If an unopened pen has been out of the fridge, check with the pharmacy before using it.13

These details show what you are paying for: a medicine with a defined schedule, storage rules and a rule for every common situation. Our free companion app, GLPTrackr, helps you track the journey on iOS and Android.

10 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
How much does a lipo injection cost?
There is no single price, because "lipo injection" describes different products and clinics price by area, session or course. We do not supply them. Ask each clinic for an itemised written quote for the whole course, including consultation and follow-up. For comparison, our licensed Mounjaro 2.5mg pen costs £169.99 per month at standard price, checked 11 October 2026.
Do lipo injections work for belly fat?
Ask any clinic to show you its evidence for your goal, as lipo injections are not something we supply. In SURMOUNT-1, people on 15mg lost an average of 20.9% of body weight over 72 weeks; individual results vary.2
How long do fat dissolving injections last?
Ask the clinic what outcome and duration it claims, what evidence supports it, and what happens if the result is not maintained. By contrast, Mounjaro is a weekly medicine, and after a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system.1
How long does a lipo shot last?
Lipo shots are not something we supply, so ask the clinic what duration it claims and what evidence supports it. Be cautious of any clinic that gives a confident timescale without citing evidence. A licensed comparison is Mounjaro, which is injected once a week, on the same day each week, and has a half-life of about five days. Your prescriber reviews your response over time.1
What is the best weight loss injection?
There is no single best injection for everyone; the right choice depends on your BMI, health conditions and goals, and a prescriber should decide. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide) are both licensed in the UK for weight management. SURMOUNT-5 was the first large head-to-head trial of tirzepatide and semaglutide, so avoid comparing results from different trials side by side.15 Start with a free consultation to find out which suits you.
What is known as the "poor man's Ozempic"?
The nickname is applied to low-cost supplements such as berberine, which are marketed as cheap alternatives. They are available cheaply without assessment and with no clinical oversight, and dosing is not standardised. Ozempic is licensed for type 2 diabetes only and is not a UK weight-loss medicine; Mounjaro is a prescription medicine with defined doses and trial evidence. Mounjaro is licensed for weight management after a prescriber assesses suitability, so a cheap supplement is not an equivalent substitute.1
How much weight can you lose on Mounjaro in 3 months?
Three months in, most people are still on the lower rungs of the dose ladder, so trial-average losses at this stage are modest compared with the headline figures. A sensible 3-month expectation on a standard titration is mid single digits as a percentage of body weight, with wide individual variation. In SURMOUNT-1, the full 15–21% averages were measured at 72 weeks, not 12. Slower early progress does not predict failure, and individual results vary.2
Which is safer, Ozempic or Mounjaro?
Neither can be called safer in general; safety depends on you, your medical history and your other medicines, which is why a prescriber assesses suitability first. Ozempic is semaglutide licensed for type 2 diabetes — it is not a UK weight-loss medicine, and a regulated UK pharmacy will not supply Ozempic for weight loss. Both are prescription medicines with known side effects; serious ones, such as severe, persistent stomach pain, need immediate medical help, so get medical help straight away. Report any suspected side effect through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme, and discuss new symptoms with your prescriber.1319
Can lipo get rid of a lower belly pooch?
Be wary of anyone who promises a specific outcome. If your goal is overall weight management and you meet the criteria, Mounjaro is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 to 30 with a weight-related condition, alongside diet and activity. A prescriber will assess suitability.1
