Are tablets cheaper than injections?
Not automatically. A Mounjaro pen lasts four weekly doses, and a Mounjaro pen starts at £169.99 per month at standard price. Across the UK pharmacies we track, Mounjaro pens range from £143.96 to £339.00 per month depending on dose and provider.

03 · Wegovy tablets
Wegovy tablets: what you get
Wegovy tablets contain semaglutide, taken once a day. Treatment starts at 1.5mg and steps up to 4mg, 9mg and then the 25mg maintenance dose, with at least one month at each dose.20 They must be taken on an empty stomach after fasting for at least 8 hours, swallowed whole with a sip of water (up to half a glass, about 120ml), and you then wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking other tablets.20
In OASIS 4, adults on 25mg for 64 weeks lost on average 13.6% of body weight versus 2.2% on placebo; individual results vary.22
04 · Foundayo
Foundayo (orforglipron): what you get
Foundayo is a once-daily tablet from Eli Lilly that can be taken at any time of day, with or without food and without water restrictions.21 It starts at 0.8mg and steps up, with at least 30 days at each dose; 17.2mg is the maximum.21 It may make oral contraceptive pills less effective, so a non-oral or barrier method is advised for 30 days after starting and after each dose increase.21
In ATTAIN-1, the highest dose gave an average 12.4% loss over 72 weeks versus 0.9% on placebo; individual results vary.23
05 · Tablets versus Mounjaro
Is there a tablet equivalent to Mounjaro?
No. Tirzepatide is injection-only in the UK, and no trial has compared Mounjaro directly with either tablet, so separate trial results should not be set against each other.15 SURMOUNT-5 is the trial that compared tirzepatide with injected semaglutide: 20.2% versus 13.7% average loss over 72 weeks.15 Read about GLP-1 and GIP tablets.

Buying safely
The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens and fake Mounjaro pens have caused hospitalisations.7 Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register.12 'Natural GLP-1' supplements such as berberine are not medicines and have no comparable trial evidence.
