  • Mounjaro slows how quickly the stomach empties, which is why bowel changes are worth discussing early.

  • Tell your prescriber about every laxative or supplement you use, including over-the-counter ones.
  • Report any suspected side effect through the Yellow Card scheme.
In this guide

01 · The core answer

Can you take Laxido while on Mounjaro?

Check with a pharmacist or your prescriber before taking Laxido, as they can see your full medicine list.

Mounjaro activates the GIP and GLP-1 receptors, which help regulate appetite and slow how quickly the stomach empties.1 Bowel habits can change when digestion changes, so it is sensible to treat any laxative as something to check, not assume.

Always read the patient information leaflet and the Laxido pack. If you are unsure, a community pharmacist can look at your full medicine list in minutes.

02 · Your next step

What should you do if you are constipated?

Start by telling someone who can see your whole picture. If you are a customer, our prescribing team reviews you monthly and offers side-effect support, so constipation is a fair thing to raise at a review or by contacting us.

  • Name every product you take, including laxatives, fibre and supplements.
  • Say when your last Mounjaro dose was and whether you recently changed strength.
  • Describe how long the constipation has lasted and any pain, bloating or vomiting.

If you are still weighing up treatment, our weight loss clinic page covers the wider picture.

03 · Why bowels change

Why bowels can change on Mounjaro

Mounjaro is a once-weekly injection that helps regulate appetite and slows stomach emptying.1 Most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, so they often eat less. Eating less food and less fibre can itself affect how regularly you go to the toilet.

Constipation is listed in the UK patient leaflet as a very common side effect, which may affect more than 1 in 10 people.13 Changes tend to be most noticeable around the start of treatment or after a step up in strength, which is a good moment to keep a simple note of your symptoms.

04 · Other remedies

Other things people ask about

Our guides to taking senna with Mounjaro and supplements to take while on Mounjaro go through the questions to ask for each.

Low-cost supplements are available without any clinical oversight, and their dosing is not standardised. Do not assume that something sold freely is suitable alongside a prescription medicine. If you also have heartburn, see whether Rennies on Mounjaro is relevant to you, and for aches, read about painkillers on Mounjaro.

05 · When to get help

When to seek medical advice

Get medical help straight away if you have severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting; get medical help straight away for pain, bloating or more than a few days without a bowel movement. These are not symptoms to manage with trial and error at home.

If you think a symptom might be a side effect of Mounjaro, you can report it through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.19 For how treatment progresses over time, see our Mounjaro timeline.

Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. It is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Individual results vary. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.

06 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

How ordering works

How ordering works at EverydayMeds

Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.

  1. EverydayMeds online consultation on a mobile phone

    Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes

Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.

  2. A clinician ready to review an online consultation

Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day

A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.

  3. An EverydayMeds delivery box

    Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery

Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.

Start your free consultation

Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.

Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
Can I take laxatives while on Mounjaro?
Some people do, but it should be agreed with a pharmacist or your prescriber first. Tell them everything you take and read both patient information leaflets. Get medical help straight away for severe, persistent stomach pain or vomiting.
Is Laxido a stool softener or a laxative?
Laxido is sold as a laxative in sachet form; a pharmacist can tell you how it works. Check the pack and leaflet, and mention that you are using Mounjaro.
Can Mounjaro cause constipation?
Yes — constipation is listed as a very common side effect in the UK patient leaflet, which may affect more than 1 in 10 people, because food moves through the gut more slowly and many people eat and drink less. If your bowel habits change or constipation persists, tell your prescriber. You can also report suspected side effects through the Yellow Card scheme.
Which laxative is suitable for GLP-1 patients?
The right choice depends on your symptoms, other medicines and health conditions. A pharmacist or your prescriber can recommend something suitable after reviewing your full medicine list.
What type of fibre supplement is suitable for Mounjaro users?
A pharmacist can advise which fibre supplement suits you. Supplements are available cheaply without clinical oversight and their dosing is not standardised. Ask a pharmacist before starting one, and read our guide to supplements to take while on Mounjaro for the questions worth asking.
Why am I still constipated even though I eat fibre and drink water?
Diet and fluids are only part of the picture, and Mounjaro changes how quickly the stomach empties. If constipation continues despite sensible eating and drinking, speak to a pharmacist or your clinical team rather than adding products on your own. Get medical help straight away for severe, persistent stomach pain or vomiting.
Should I stop Mounjaro if I am constipated?
Do not stop or change your dose without speaking to your prescriber first. Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days and takes roughly four to five weeks to clear, so stopping would not give quick relief. Contact your prescribing team, who can review your dose and symptoms.
