Can I Prefill My Tirzepatide Syringes? (October 2026)
No, you should not prefill tirzepatide syringes. Mounjaro is already supplied as a pre-filled multi-dose KwikPen in six strengths from 2.5mg to 15mg, so no syringe is needed. Drawing doses out in advance removes the pen's protection, and the storage rules cover the pen itself.1
One pen. Four weekly doses.

A quick overview
What to know
before you start.
-
Mounjaro is supplied as a pre-filled KwikPen, so you never need to draw up or prefill a syringe.
-
Storage guidance covers the pen only: fridge at 2–8°C, and up to 30 days (not above 30°C) out of the fridge once in use.
-
Prefilled syringes have no tested storage window, and you cannot easily check the liquid once it is drawn up.
-
If a pen looks cloudy, discoloured or has particles, do not use it. Contact the pharmacy.
-
Travelling is straightforward with the pen itself, so there is no reason to prefill for a trip.
In this guide
01 · The short answer
Do you need to prefill anything with Mounjaro?
No. Mounjaro is a once-weekly prescription medicine supplied as a pre-filled multi-dose pen (KwikPen), so the dose is set on the pen and there is nothing to prefill.1 If you have been given a vial or a syringe with a product described as tirzepatide, treat that as a red flag and check where it came from.
Our guides on syringes for Mounjaro and prefilling syringes with tirzepatide go further on the device question.
02 · What to do
What should you do instead?
Keep the pen in its storage conditions and inject straight from it. Keep pens in a fridge at 2–8°C and never freeze them. Once in use, a pen can stay out of the fridge not above 30°C for up to 30 days, then it should be discarded.1 That already covers most trips and busy weeks without any preparation.
If you are weighing up treatment, you can see the current Mounjaro pen prices and consultation, or read about our weight loss clinic.
03 · Why prefilling is risky
Why prefilling syringes is risky
The pen's storage and in-use rules were set for the pen, not for medicine sitting in a syringe. Any storage time you read online for tirzepatide held in a syringe does not apply to a UK pen.1
And once it is in a syringe, checking the liquid is harder.
04 · Checking your pen
How to check a pen is genuine and still good
A genuine UK Mounjaro pen comes from a registered pharmacy with a batch number and expiry date, arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution inside is clear and colourless. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, or has been out of the fridge for more than 30 days, or above 30°C in use.1
If supply or packaging ever seems wrong, check the pharmacy on the GPhC register and contact the pharmacy before injecting.12
05 · Travelling with a pen
Can you prefill for travel?
You do not need to. You can fly with Mounjaro: carry pens in hand luggage, because hold luggage can fall below freezing, ideally in a cool bag with the prescription label or a copy of your prescription.1
In-use pens tolerate up to 30 days not above 30°C, so most holidays need no special arrangements. For hot climates use an insulated pouch, and check destination rules for prescription injectables before you fly.1 Unopened pens stay in the fridge until the printed expiry date. If an unopened pen has been out of the fridge, check with the pharmacy before using it rather than relying on a remembered day limit, because figures online often come from other countries' labels.1
06 · Syringes and other products
What about insulin or peptide syringe advice?
Advice about insulin syringes or research peptides does not transfer to Mounjaro. Those answers relate to different products and devices. Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance are included with every order, and each needle is for a single use.
For more on the topic, see GLP-1 syringes, the best syringes for Mounjaro, and why a Mounjaro shot can sting. Our bimagrumab and tirzepatide page covers a medicine still in development.
07 · Safe supply
Getting a genuine pen
Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Be wary of anyone offering to supply tirzepatide without a consultation or prescription, or in vials or syringes. The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts and runs the Yellow Card scheme for reporting problems.7
We supply genuine KwikPens through official LillyDirect supply, with free next-day tracked delivery in temperature-controlled packaging. Ongoing monthly reviews are included. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.
How ordering works
How ordering works at EverydayMeds
Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.
Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes
Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.
Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day
A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.
Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery
Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.
Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.
Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.
