A quick overview
What to know
before you start.
-
The price of a weight loss injection depends on the medicine, the dose and the provider, so compare like for like: same drug, same strength, same month.
-
Across the UK pharmacies we track, Mounjaro pens range from £143.96 to £339.00 per month, and starter pens from £143.96 to £179.99.
-
Reviews tell you about service and delivery. They are not evidence of how well a medicine works for you; trial data and a prescriber's assessment are.
-
Never choose a seller that offers pens without a consultation or prescription. The MHRA has seized thousands of fake pens in the UK.
-
A first year at standard prices costs £2,711.88 if you settle at 5mg, up to £3,599.88 at 15mg, before discounts.

01 · Price
What weight loss injections cost in the UK
The honest answer is that there is no single price. Weight loss injections are prescription medicines, and the cost depends on which medicine you are prescribed, which strength, and which pharmacy supplies it. Headline figures that mix Mounjaro, Wegovy and daily liraglutide products into one range are hard to use, because the medicines, doses and dosing frequency differ.
For Mounjaro, we compare like with like. Across the UK pharmacies we track (checked 10 October 2026), the cheapest and dearest Mounjaro pen at any dose cost £143.96 and £339.00 per month. For the 2.5mg starting pen alone, the range is £143.96 to £179.99. For the same dose, the gap between providers runs from £27 to £41. Boots' Mounjaro dose prices run from £179.00 to £339.00.
At EverydayMeds the standard price of one Mounjaro pen (four weekly doses) is £169.99 at 2.5mg, £218.99 at 5mg, £279.99 at 7.5mg, £290.99 at 10mg, £319.99 at 12.5mg and £329.99 at 15mg. All six doses are in stock. New customers save £40 on their first order at any dose with code FIRST40, and an automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25). The Mounjaro discount code page explains how this works.
02 · Planning
What a year of treatment costs
Monthly price is only part of the picture, because the dose rises over the first months. Everyone starts at 2.5mg, and if you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96 at standard prices. Over a first year of 52 weeks and 13 pens, the total is £2,711.88 if you settle at 5mg, and up to £3,599.88 if you settle at 15mg.
| Planning stage | Pens | Cost at standard prices |
|---|---|---|
| First year, settling at 5mg | 13 | £2,711.88 |
| First year, settling at 15mg | 13 | £3,599.88 |
| Ongoing month at 7.5mg | 1 | £279.99 |
| Ongoing month at 10mg | 1 | £290.99 |
| Ongoing month at 12.5mg | 1 | £319.99 |
These totals are before discounts. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order is £25 less than the standard price. If you are switching from another provider at a higher dose, the new-customer discount still applies to your first order at any dose: switching at 15mg, your first order is £289.99.
03 · Value
What the price includes and what to ask elsewhere
A low headline price means little if the extras are added later. Our consultation is free and the price shown is the price paid, with no hidden fees. Delivery is free, next-day, tracked and in temperature-controlled packaging, and same-day dispatch applies when you order by 3pm. Saturday delivery is £14.99. Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance come with every order, and ongoing monthly reviews by the prescribing team are included.
Supply matters as much as price. We source Mounjaro through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution, and we are GPhC-registered (9012878). When comparing any provider, ask whether the consultation, delivery, follow-up and needles are in the price, whether the pharmacy is on the GPhC register, and whether a prescriber reviews you before any medicine is supplied. You can also see how this compares with the Mounjaro weight loss best price UK guide.
Ready to start? Start your free consultation. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. Individual results vary.1
04 · Reading reviews properly
How to read weight loss injection reviews
Reviews are useful for service questions and unreliable for medical ones. A review can tell you whether a parcel arrived on time, whether packaging was cold, whether support replied and whether the checkout matched the advertised price. It cannot tell you whether a particular medicine will work for you, because weight loss varies from person to person and depends on dose, diet, activity and health history.
When you read reviews of any UK provider, look for patterns rather than single stories. Several reviews mentioning the same delivery delay or the same unexpected charge are more informative than one glowing or furious post. Check the dates: a review from before a price change tells you little about what you would pay today. Look at whether the provider replies, and how.
Treat with caution any review that promises dramatic results, names a date by which someone lost a set amount, or praises a seller for skipping the consultation. A seller that offers to supply without a consultation or prescription is a warning sign, not a bargain. Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation.
A practical checklist for judging any provider from reviews and its website:
- Is the pharmacy listed on the GPhC register, and does the registration number match the site?
- Does a prescriber assess you before any medicine is supplied, and are unsuitable orders refunded?
- Is the total price clear before checkout, including delivery and follow-up?
- Do reviews mention cold-chain delivery and genuine, batch-numbered pens?
- Is there a real support route, such as a phone number and email, with stated hours?
On our side, support runs Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, by email at support@everydaymeds.co.uk, account portal chat or phone on 0333 207 0413. Repeat orders re-check suitability, and nothing is auto-shipped. Those are the kinds of details worth looking for in any provider's reviews, because they describe how a service behaves after you have paid.
One more caution: star ratings alone can hide the difference between a price that was clear and one that crept up through add-ons. Read the written comments about checkout and delivery charges as well as the score.
05 · Mounjaro and the other injections
Mounjaro, Wegovy and liraglutide: what you are comparing
They are not interchangeable, and a lower price per pen does not mean a lower price per month of treatment unless the dosing is the same.
Mounjaro is a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly, licensed in the UK for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes. It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose KwikPen in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1 Tirzepatide activates two gut-hormone receptors at once, GIP and GLP-1, which together help regulate appetite and slow how quickly the stomach empties. That dual action distinguishes it from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide.1
Wegovy is also a once-weekly injection. Its pens are 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg, with steps after at least four weeks reaching the 2.4mg maintenance dose from week 17. Liraglutide, as in Saxenda, is supplied at 6mg per millilitre and is a daily injection, unlike once-weekly Mounjaro and Wegovy. A first Wegovy pen starts at £99.99 as a first-order price on our site, so check current availability at the time of order. Our all weight loss treatments page lists what we supply.
People taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 For someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. These are trial averages, individual results vary, and treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.
Be wary of tables that line up the results of different trials in one column. Each trial enrolled different people under different conditions, so those numbers should not be set side by side as if they came from one head-to-head study. If a provider tells you which medicine is best for you, that decision belongs to a prescriber who has reviewed your history, not to a price list.
Which medicine you are offered should follow your assessment, not the lowest number on a comparison page. If you want the wider picture on cost across treatments, see best price for weight loss medication.
06 · Who is eligible
Eligibility, and the NHS versus private picture
Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. A prescriber assesses your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable for you.1
Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46 Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting.
That means the NHS and private routes are not rivals so much as different timelines. If you may qualify on the NHS, ask your GP what is available locally. If you meet the licensed criteria and want to start sooner, a regulated private pharmacy is an option, provided a prescriber reviews you and the pharmacy is on the GPhC register. The NHS guide to tirzepatide is a good neutral starting point.5 We also cover the topic in more depth in NHS weight loss injections reviews.
Eligibility is also why a price comparison should never be your first step. If you do not meet the criteria, or if a medical history or another medicine makes treatment unsuitable, the cheapest pen is irrelevant. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.
If you decide to go private, expect a consultation that asks about your weight, conditions, medicines and previous treatments. Answer honestly. The questions exist to protect you, and a provider that skips them is not behaving like a pharmacy. You can also see how registration works on our weight loss injections register online guide.
Remember that NHS prescription charge rules, where they apply in England, are a separate matter from private supply; the charge in England is £9.90 per item where it applies. Ask your GP or pharmacist whether it applies to you.
07 · Dose ladder and cost
How the dose ladder shapes what you pay
The price you pay in month one is rarely the price you pay in month six, because Mounjaro is titrated up. Everyone starts on 2.5mg once a week. This starting dose is about letting your body adjust, not about weight loss itself. After at least 4 weeks the dose increases to 5mg, and can then step up by 2.5mg at a minimum of 4-week intervals (7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg) up to a maximum of 15mg weekly, depending on how you respond and tolerate it.1
Many people settle at a maintenance dose of 5mg, 10mg or 15mg. Higher is not automatically better, and your prescriber guides the pace.1 This matters for budgeting: the monthly price rises with each step, so the sensible comparison is the cost of the dose you are likely to end up on, not only the starter pen.
Price per pen does not always scale in the same way, which is why we show the standard price of each pen: £169.99 at 2.5mg, £218.99 at 5mg, £279.99 at 7.5mg, £290.99 at 10mg, £319.99 at 12.5mg and £329.99 at 15mg. Weekly equivalents are £42.50, £54.75, £70.00, £72.75, £80.00 and £82.50 per week.
Each pen contains four weekly doses, so a pen is a four-week supply. If a provider quotes a price per month, check whether it means one pen or something else, and which strength.
Also check what happens to price if you step up. Some people are told a low price for the starter pen and then find later doses cost much more. Looking at the whole ladder before you start avoids that surprise. If you are already on treatment elsewhere and thinking of switching, the new-customer discount of £40 still applies to your first order at any dose with code FIRST40, and every later order is £25 off the standard price.
08 · Fake pens and safe buying
Avoiding fake pens when you hunt for a bargain
The lowest price is not worth a counterfeit pen. The MHRA has seized thousands of fake weight-loss pens in the UK and has issued alerts after falsified Mounjaro pens were identified. Fake pens have caused hospitalisations, and some contained insulin rather than tirzepatide.7 Only buy from a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register, never from social media, beauty salons or unverified websites. Genuine treatment always involves a prescription and a clinical consultation.12
Genuine UK stock is supplied through Lilly's official distribution to licensed pharmacies, and every pen carries a batch number and expiry date that can be checked.1 Ours comes through official LillyDirect supply, direct from Eli Lilly's UK distribution.
When your pen arrives, check it. A genuine UK pen comes from a registered pharmacy with a batch number and expiry date, arrives cold-chain packaged, and the solution inside is clear and colourless. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, looks cloudy or discoloured, has particles in it, is past its expiry, or has been above 30°C or out of the fridge for more than 30 days in use. If supply or packaging ever seems wrong, check the pharmacy on the GPhC register and contact the pharmacy before injecting.13
Storage matters after delivery, too. Keep pens in a fridge at 2 to 8°C and never freeze them. Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge not above 30°C for up to 30 days, useful for short trips, after which it should be discarded. Keep the cap on to protect it from light.13 Unopened pens stay in the fridge and keep until the expiry date printed on the box.
Warning signs of an unsafe seller include prices far below what you see elsewhere, offers to supply without a consultation or prescription, sales through social media or beauty salons, and no pharmacy registration number. If any of those apply, walk away. Our GPhC registration is 9012878, and you can check it yourself on the register.
Treat an unusually low price as information. Real medicines have a real cost to supply, and a number far under the range across the UK pharmacies we track (£143.96 to £339.00) deserves questions before it deserves a click.
09 · Ordering and aftercare
How ordering works, and what happens after
Ordering from us takes four steps. First, complete the free online consultation: a short health questionnaire with no charge and no obligation. Second, a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it, not a scoring script. Unsuitable orders are refunded automatically. Third, our registered pharmacy dispenses your order, with same-day dispatch when you order by 3pm. Fourth, delivery is free, next-day and tracked with DPD, in temperature-controlled, discreet packaging.
You can start your free consultation now, or look at the Mounjaro pen prices and consultation page first. Payment is by Visa or Mastercard, with Klarna and pay-monthly options. There are no subscriptions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than shipping automatically.
After your first pen, the injection routine is simple. Mounjaro is injected under the skin once a week, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without food. Licensed sites are the stomach area (at least 5cm from the belly button), the front of the thigh, or the back of the upper arm if someone else gives the injection. Rotate the site with each dose.1 Needles, a sharps bin and injection guidance are included with every order.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can within 4 days (96 hours) of the scheduled time. If more than 4 days have passed, skip it and take the next on your normal day. Never take two doses within 3 days of each other. You can change your injection day as long as at least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since your last dose.1
Aftercare is part of what you are paying for. The prescribing team provides ongoing monthly reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments, and side-effect support. You can also use GLPTrackr, our free companion app for tracking a GLP-1 journey on iOS and Android. Prices on our comparison pages are checked and dated, so you can see when we last looked.
Declined consultations are refunded automatically in full. Dispensed prescription medicines cannot be returned except if faulty, damaged or the wrong item; contact us within 3 days, and refunds take 5 to 10 working days.
10 · Realistic results and safety
What to expect, and what to avoid while on treatment
Weight loss on Mounjaro is gradual by design. The first weeks on 2.5mg are an adjustment phase and losses are usually modest. Most measurable progress builds from 5mg onward, month by month. Trials measured results at 72 weeks, so think in months, not days, and judge progress by trend, not individual weigh-ins.1 If you have lost less than 5% of your starting weight after 6 months on the highest dose you can tolerate, your prescriber will discuss whether continuing or stopping is right for you.
In SURMOUNT-1, at 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20%.2 Trial averages do not predict your own result, and individual results vary.
The early effects are usually mild. Mild nausea, altered appetite and tiredness in the first days after each injection are the commonest early effects and usually settle.1 Some people notice appetite change in week one, others feel little until a higher dose. Both are normal, and early loss includes water weight.
What should you avoid? On medicines, tell your prescriber about everything you take. Tirzepatide slows how quickly the stomach empties and can reduce absorption of oral contraceptives. The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.1 If you take insulin or sulfonylureas, doses may need adjusting because of the risk of low blood sugar, so speak to your prescriber rather than changing them yourself.1
Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4 to 5 weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.1 Report any suspected side effect through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.19
Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.
11 · Serious side effects
Serious side effects: when to get help straight away
Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1
How ordering works
How ordering works at EverydayMeds
Three steps, with our pharmacy team alongside you.
Step 1: Online consultation — 5–10 minutes
Complete a confidential health questionnaire covering BMI, medical history and current medication. No payment is taken until you're approved.
Step 2: Prescriber review — usually same day
A UK registered prescriber checks your suitability against the licensed criteria (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with a weight-related condition) and contraindications, and confirms your starting dose.
Step 3: Next-day tracked delivery
Dispensed by our GPhC-registered pharmacy in temperature-controlled packaging with needles and a sharps bin included. Orders approved by 3pm for next-day tracked delivery.
Prescription and dispatch follow clinical approval. Confirm current delivery options when ordering.
Afterwards you're not on your own: dose-change reviews are built in before each step up, our pharmacist team is available for side-effect questions, and repeat orders re-check suitability rather than auto-shipping.
