01 · Decision guide

How to choose an online GLP-1 weight loss program

Choose a program on five checks: who prescribes, which medicine is supplied, what support follows, what it really costs, and whether the pharmacy is regulated. Dietitian support can add structure, but the first three checks come first.

In the UK, look for a pharmacy you can verify on the GPhC register. Ours is registration 9012878.

We are open about our own position: we are a full UK online pharmacy, and our aftercare is ongoing monthly reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments by the prescribing team, plus side-effect support.

02 · Costs

What a GLP-1 program costs in the UK

Our Mounjaro pen costs £169.99 per month at the 2.5mg starting dose, rising with each strength to £329.99 at 15mg. These are standard prices for one 4-week pen.

New customers save £40 on their first order at any dose with code FIRST40, and an automatic £25 reorder discount applies to every future order (code DOSE25). Switching from another provider at a higher dose? Your first order is £289.99 at 15mg, a first-order price. Your first 2.5mg pen costs £129.99 with the first-order code.

Across the UK pharmacies we track, Mounjaro pens run from £143.96 to £339.00 per month depending on dose and provider, checked 11 October 2026. For the same dose, providers can differ by between £27 and £41. That gap is why comparing at your own dose matters. You can also see our wider weight loss treatments.

If you step up after 4 weeks on each dose, your first four pens (2.5mg to 10mg) cost £959.96 at standard prices. A first year (13 pens) costs £2,711.88 if you stay on 5mg after your 2.5mg starting pen, up to £3,599.88 if you step up through every dose to 15mg. A new customer's first order is £40 less, and every later order £25 less.

04 · What the medicine is

What the medicine is and how it works

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable prescription medicine made by Eli Lilly. In the UK it is licensed for weight management in adults and for type 2 diabetes. It comes as a pre-filled multi-dose pen (KwikPen) in six strengths: 2.5mg, 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12.5mg and 15mg.1 Any program built around it should explain these basics clearly before asking for payment.

Tirzepatide is the first treatment of its kind to activate two natural gut-hormone receptors at once: GIP and GLP-1. Together these help regulate appetite, slow how quickly the stomach empties, and improve the way the body responds to insulin.1 In practice, most people feel fuller sooner and less hungry between meals, which supports a reduced-calorie diet. This dual action distinguishes Mounjaro from single-action GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy/Ozempic).

The phrase GLP-1 program is often used loosely for any service selling any injection. The medicine itself, its licence and its supplier are what you are really choosing. Ask which product you will receive, whether it is a licensed branded pen, and who dispenses it.

Why does the mechanism matter for nutrition support? Because the medicine changes your appetite, not your need for good food. Feeling full sooner means each meal has to work harder. A protein-rich plate, enough fluid and regular movement are what turn reduced appetite into steady, healthy weight loss rather than simply eating less of everything.

Also be wary of programs that treat the injection as the whole plan. Treatment is licensed for use alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. A dietitian can personalise that advice; where a program does not include one, the same principles still apply to everyone.

If you want a deeper look at how structured programs are put together, our guide to what a GLP-1 program involves walks through the stages from consultation to maintenance, and our page on medical weight loss programs compares the wider options.

05 · Who is eligible

Who can use a GLP-1 weight loss program

Mounjaro is licensed for weight management in adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 with at least one weight-related condition. Qualifying conditions include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.1 It must be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

A prescriber will assess your BMI, medical history and current medicines before deciding whether it is suitable for you.1 That assessment is the core of any trustworthy program. If a service offers to supply without a consultation or prescription, walk away; this is a prescription-only medicine.

Our process is deliberately straightforward. The free online consultation is a short health questionnaire, with no charge and no obligation. It is then reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, not a scoring script. Payment is taken when you place the order; if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full.

What should you tell the prescriber? Everything relevant: other medicines, previous weight-loss attempts, conditions such as diabetes, and anything you are unsure about. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea, your doses may need adjusting because of the low blood sugar risk; this is a conversation to have with your prescriber rather than a reason to hide information.

Mounjaro slows stomach emptying, which can reduce how well oral contraceptive pills are absorbed. The SmPC advises switching to a non-oral method, or adding a barrier method (such as condoms), for 4 weeks after starting Mounjaro and for 4 weeks after each dose increase.1 Raise this at consultation so you get appropriate advice.7

If you are weighing several providers, our comparison pages on the best online GLP-1 prescriber and the best online GLP-1 programs set out the criteria in more detail. The key principle is the same everywhere: eligibility is decided by a clinician, not by a checkout page, and a clinical conversation should come before any medicine ships.

Finally, remember that the licence is for adults. Programs that promise a result without assessment should be avoided. If in doubt, speak to your GP or a pharmacist.

06 · Nutrition and protein

Dietitian-style nutrition advice on a GLP-1

No food is banned on Mounjaro, including bananas, but some choices make treatment easier and more effective. Prioritise protein at each meal, vegetables and fibre, and regular fluids. This is the core of what any dietitian would build a plan around, and you can start applying it today without a paid membership.

Many people feel worse after very fatty, fried or very sugary food, and large portions sit heavily because the stomach empties more slowly. Smaller, slower meals work better. Because treatment is licensed alongside a reduced-calorie diet, the aim is a sustainable deficit, not a perfect food list.

Is there a free GLP-1 diet plan? Not as a single official plan, but the principles are free: build each plate around a protein source, add vegetables and fibre, keep portions modest, and drink water through the day. A personalised plan from a registered dietitian can add structure, particularly if you have other conditions, but you do not need one to begin sensibly.

A practical way to apply this is to plan meals around what you can comfortably finish. When appetite is low, start the meal with the protein, then add vegetables. Avoid filling up on liquid calories; sugary drinks and high-calorie coffees are an easy place for the deficit to leak.

Why protein matters most: some of any rapid weight loss comes from lean tissue, and protecting muscle protects your metabolism, strength and appearance. The two levers are adequate protein, aiming to include a protein source at every meal, which is harder when appetite is low, and resistance exercise two or more times a week. This matters more, not less, as the dose rises and appetite falls.

On supplements, no supplement is required with Mounjaro. Eating much less can leave gaps, so a standard daily multivitamin is a reasonable safety net while losing weight; discuss anything beyond that with a pharmacist. Products sold as natural GLP-1 boosters are not equivalents and are not substitutes for prescribed treatment. Oral supplements, like other oral products, may be absorbed more slowly when you start treatment.

If you want individual meal planning, you can see a registered dietitian separately through your GP or privately, and share your treatment plan with them. Our prescribing team can answer treatment questions during your monthly review, and our guide to effective weight loss programs with GLP-1 medication covers how diet and medicine fit together.

07 · Exercise and hydration

Exercise, hydration and everyday habits

Increased physical activity is part of the licence, not an optional extra. Nothing special is required: the evidence-backed pattern is regular moderate activity, such as brisk walking, plus resistance work for muscle. Start where you are and build. On injection days with early side effects, lighter movement still counts.

Exercise also protects against regain if you later stop treatment. That makes it a valuable habit to build while you are on treatment, because it stays with you afterwards. Two or more resistance sessions a week support muscle preservation.

Hydration deserves its own attention. Drinking enough matters more on Mounjaro than usual: reduced appetite means less fluid from food, and vomiting or diarrhoea can dehydrate you quickly, which is the main route to the rare kidney problems reported with this class. Keep water within reach through the day.

Treat inability to keep fluids down as a contact-your-clinical-team issue, not something to push through. This is exactly the kind of moment where the follow-up and side-effect support from a program earns its value. Our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, by email at support@everydaymeds.co.uk, account portal chat or phone on 0333 207 0413.

Coffee and tea are fine, as there is no interaction between Mounjaro and caffeine. Two practical notes: strong coffee on an empty, slower-emptying stomach can aggravate nausea or reflux for some people, and high-calorie coffee drinks are an easy place for the deficit to leak. Coffee rules circulating on social media have no clinical basis.

Alcohol has no direct interaction with Mounjaro, but drinking on a reduced appetite and emptier stomach can hit harder than usual, and alcohol adds calories that work against your goals. If you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea, alcohol increases the risk of low blood sugar. Moderation is the sensible rule; many people find their desire for alcohol drops on treatment.

Build the routine in small steps: a daily walk, two short resistance sessions, a water bottle on your desk, and a protein source at breakfast. Our free GLPTrackr companion app, available on iOS and Android, can help you log doses and habits. Whether or not your program includes a dietitian, these basics are the foundation, and they are what a good dietitian would reinforce.

08 · Results and strength

How do GLP-1 medicines compare for weight loss?

In the SURMOUNT-1 trial of 2,539 adults, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of their body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, compared with 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone.2 These are trial averages, and individual results vary.

At 72 weeks, 85% of participants on 5mg, 89% on 10mg and 91% on 15mg had lost at least 5% of their body weight. Half of participants on 10mg and 57% on 15mg lost at least 20% of their body weight.2 Treatment works alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, not instead of them.

To make that concrete with a worked example: for someone starting at 100 kg, 20.9% is about 21 kg. That is straight arithmetic of the trial average, not a prediction for any individual, and trial averages do not predict your own result.

Which GLP-1 medicine is right for you? The right medicine depends on the person, and a prescriber decides. Most people are stepped up gradually rather than starting high, and the right maintenance dose is a prescriber decision based on response and tolerability.

SURMOUNT-5 is the first large head-to-head trial of tirzepatide and semaglutide for weight loss.15 Results from separate trials, with different people, durations and doses, should not be set against each other as if they were head to head. Our guide to online weight loss programs with tirzepatide treatments goes further into how tirzepatide programs work.

Wegovy is also a licensed option, with pens at 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg once weekly, stepping up after at least 4 weeks to the 2.4mg maintenance dose from week 17.18 You can view the Wegovy pen alongside Mounjaro. Liraglutide, by contrast, is a daily injection supplied at 6mg per millilitre, unlike the once-weekly pens. Your prescriber can advise which suits you.

The honest summary: a medicine does not replace a good program. Results depend on dose, adherence, diet quality, activity and follow-up, and that is where nutrition support, whether from a dietitian or from everyday habits, earns its place.

09 · NHS versus private

NHS versus private GLP-1 programs

Mounjaro is available on the NHS, but access is being phased in over several years. NICE recommends it for adults with a BMI of at least 35 plus at least one weight-related condition, and the NHS primary-care rollout began in June 2025 with the highest-need groups first, initially BMI 40+ with four or more qualifying conditions.46

Full rollout is expected to take years, which is why many people who meet the licensed criteria choose regulated private treatment rather than waiting. The licensed criteria for private prescribing are broader than the current NHS priority groups, with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 to 30 with a weight-related condition.1

If you may qualify for NHS support, speak to your GP. For Wegovy, access runs through specialist weight-management services; ask your GP.

Where does a dietitian come in? NHS weight-management services may include dietary support as part of a wider service; ask your GP what is available locally. Private online programs vary widely: some bundle nutrition coaching into a fee, others supply medicine and clinical review only. Compare what is actually included before you compare prices.

If you go private, the safeguards matter more. Check the pharmacy is on the GPhC register, that the medicine is a genuine licensed pen, and that a prescriber reviews you before supply. Counterfeit and unlicensed products are a real risk when buying from unregulated sellers. The MHRA publishes counterfeit medicine alerts and runs the Yellow Card scheme for reporting suspected problems.7

We source Mounjaro directly through official LillyDirect supply from Eli Lilly's UK distribution, and every pen is a genuine KwikPen. Paying privately is a choice about speed, convenience and support, not a judgement on the NHS. Some people use both: private treatment now, and an NHS referral if they later qualify.

For the NHS prescription charge context, a standard prescription in England costs £9.90 per item, though that does not apply to weight-management injections supplied privately. Whatever route you choose, ask what review and follow-up are included, because ongoing monitoring matters as much as the first prescription.

10 · Planning your year

GLP-1 program costs and a year of costs

How much does a GLP-1 weight loss program cost? The honest answer depends on dose and provider, so compare at the dose you will actually use. Across the UK pharmacies we track, a Mounjaro pen costs between £143.96 and £339.00 per month, and 2.5mg starting pens run from £143.96 to £179.99, checked 11 October 2026.

Our own pens cost £169.99 at 2.5mg, £218.99 at 5mg, £279.99 at 7.5mg, £290.99 at 10mg, £319.99 at 12.5mg and £329.99 at 15mg. Each is the standard price for one pen lasting 4 weeks. Weekly, that is £42.50 at 2.5mg and £54.75 at 5mg.

PhaseDurationPensStandard cost
First year: one 2.5mg starting pen, then 5mg52 weeks13£2,711.88
First year: step up through every dose to 15mg52 weeks13£3,599.88

All totals are at standard prices, before discounts. A new customer's first order is £40 less with code FIRST40, and every later order is £25 off the standard price (code DOSE25). For a 7.5mg, 10mg or 12.5mg maintenance dose, budget the monthly price of that pen: £279.99, £290.99 or £319.99.

Pharmacy sell prices vary because of confidential discounts, which is why we show live, dated prices and encourage you to compare at your dose.

On payment, we accept Visa and Mastercard, Klarna and pay-monthly options, with no subscriptions. The consultation is free, and the price shown is the price paid. Free next-day tracked delivery is included; Saturday delivery is £14.99. Budgeting for food, a multivitamin if advised and possibly a separate dietitian appointment gives a realistic picture of total program cost.

11 · Stopping and aftercare

What happens when you stop a GLP-1

Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so after a final dose it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system. There is no way to speed this up, and nothing needs doing while it clears.1

As appetite returns, the habits you built matter. Exercise protects against regain if you later stop treatment, and the nutrition basics, protein at each meal, vegetables and fibre, regular fluids and sensible portions, are what you carry forward. In SURMOUNT-4, people who stopped tirzepatide after 36 weeks regained on average 14% of body weight over the following year, while those who continued treatment lost a further 5.5% on average. Stopping should always be planned with your prescriber.

This is where a good program differs from a prescription alone. Before you stop, discuss the plan: whether to step the dose down, how to keep activity up, and when to seek review. Our ongoing monthly reviews, dose-titration and follow-up assessments by the prescribing team are designed for that, and repeat orders re-check suitability, with no auto-shipping.

Side effects are another reason for aftercare. If a symptom is new or worrying, contact your clinical team, and you can report suspected side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.19 If nausea or vomiting is persistent or you cannot keep fluids down, contact your clinical team — dehydration needs prompt attention.

Storage is part of aftercare too. Keep unopened pens in the fridge until first use; they keep until the printed expiry date. Once in use, a pen can be kept out of the fridge at a temperature not above 30°C for up to 30 days after first use, and must then be thrown away.13 For anything beyond that, check the patient information leaflet or ask the pharmacy.

How ordering works

Ordering takes three steps. First, complete the free online consultation, a short health questionnaire with no charge and no obligation. Second, a GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it, and unsuitable orders are refunded automatically. Third, our registered pharmacy dispenses and dispatches, with free next-day tracked delivery. Ready to begin? Buy Mounjaro or book your online GLP-1 weight loss consultation.

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only medicine, supplied only after an online consultation reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber. It is used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Individual results vary. This page is information, not a substitute for medical advice.

12 · Serious side effects

Serious side effects: when to get help straight away

Serious side effects are uncommon but need urgent attention. Seek immediate medical help for: severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, with or without vomiting (possible pancreatitis); pain in the upper right abdomen, fever or yellowing of skin/eyes (possible gallbladder problems); or signs of a severe allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or throat and difficulty breathing. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea alongside Mounjaro, watch for low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, confusion) — your prescriber may need to adjust those medicines.1

Your questions, answered

Mounjaro price UK — frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Mounjaro prices, NHS access and ongoing treatment.

Ask our pharmacy team
What should I look for in an online GLP-1 program?
No program is best for everyone; look for one that supplies a licensed medicine after a prescriber has assessed you, then supports you with regular follow-up. Check the pharmacy is on the GPhC register, ask what review and nutrition guidance are included, and compare prices at your own dose. Our free consultation is reviewed by a GPhC-registered prescriber, with ongoing monthly reviews included.
What weight loss results were seen with tirzepatide in SURMOUNT-1?
In SURMOUNT-1, people taking tirzepatide alongside diet and exercise lost on average 15% of body weight on 5mg, 19.5% on 10mg and 20.9% on 15mg over 72 weeks, versus 3.1% with lifestyle changes alone. These are trial averages and individual results vary. SURMOUNT-5 is the first large head-to-head trial of tirzepatide and semaglutide for weight loss; your prescriber can explain which medicine and dose suit you.
How do I judge a GLP-1 company?
Judge a company on regulation and care, not marketing. Look for GPhC registration you can verify, genuine licensed medicine, a prescriber review before supply, and clear ongoing follow-up. We are GPhC-registered (9012878), supply Mounjaro through official LillyDirect supply, and include monthly clinical reviews. Compare any provider on those points, plus the price at your actual dose, before choosing.
What is the cheapest GLP weight loss program?
Cost depends on dose and provider, so compare like for like. Across the UK pharmacies we track, Mounjaro pens cost between £143.96 and £339.00 per month, checked 11 October 2026. Our 2.5mg starter pen is £169.99 at standard price. Check what is included, because the consultation is free with us and there are no subscriptions.
Is there a free GLP-1 diet plan?
There is no single official free plan, but the principles are free and well established. Build each meal around a protein source, add vegetables and fibre, keep portions smaller and eat slowly, drink water regularly, and include walking plus resistance exercise two or more times a week. No food is banned. A registered dietitian can personalise this, particularly if you have other conditions, and your GP can advise on local services.
Which GLP-1 medicine is right for weight loss?
Most people step up gradually and settle on the dose that balances results and tolerability. The right medicine depends on the person; your prescriber decides which suits you and the right maintenance dose after reviewing your progress.
What happens when you stop taking GLP-1?
Tirzepatide has a half-life of about five days, so it takes roughly 4–5 weeks to clear the system after your last dose, and nothing needs doing while it clears. Appetite effects fade gradually. Regular exercise helps protect against regain, and the nutrition habits you built still apply. Discuss your plan with your prescriber before stopping so you know what to expect and when to seek review.
How to order GLP-1 online?
Start with a free online consultation, a short health questionnaire with no charge and no obligation. A GPhC-registered prescriber reviews it; payment is taken when you place the order, and if the prescriber decides the treatment is not suitable, the order is refunded automatically in full. Our registered pharmacy then dispenses, dispatching the same day if you order by 3pm, with free next-day tracked delivery. Never buy from a seller offering to supply without a consultation or prescription.
