There is no Wegovy 0.5mg click chart, or click chart for any other Wegovy strength. The patient leaflet tells you not to count clicks because clicks are not a way to measure the dose. Instead, use the dose counter on the pen to select your prescribed dose. This page is for UK adults who have been prescribed Wegovy for weight management and want clear information before relying on advice shared in forums or social media.
This page covers the full Wegovy dose chart and explains what clinical trials have found at different stages of treatment. It also answers common searches such as wegovy click dosage chart, wegovy click chart, wegovy clicks dosage, wegovy clicks chart and simply wegovy clicks. You will also find information about how the different pens work, what to do if you are having side effects, and what to consider if you are worried about the cost of treatment.
Wegovy is a prescription only medicine containing semaglutide. The dose information here explains how Wegovy is licensed to be used in the UK. It is not a personal dosing plan. Your prescriber will decide which dose is right for you and when your dose should change. Using the correct pen and dose is important because selecting the wrong dose can lead to dosing errors.
The Wegovy Dose Chart
This is the Wegovy dosage chart people are usually looking for. It also answers searches for a Wegovy dose chart, Wegovy dosing chart and Wegovy weight loss chart.
| Strength | Usual duration | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| 0.25mg | 4 weeks | Starting dose |
| 0.5mg | 4 weeks | Second step in the dose schedule |
| 1mg | 4 weeks | Third step |
| 1.7mg | 4 weeks | Fourth step |
| 2.4mg | Ongoing | Standard maintenance dose |
| 7.2mg | Ongoing | Higher maintenance option for some adults with obesity, after at least 4 weeks at 2.4mg |
This gives a 16 week dose escalation to the standard 2.4mg maintenance dose, with 2.4mg usually starting from week 17. For adults with obesity, the dose can be increased to 7.2mg once weekly if needed, after at least 4 weeks on 2.4mg.
If you have significant gastrointestinal side effects, your prescriber may decide to delay the next dose increase or reduce your dose to the previous level until your symptoms improve. This can give your body more time to adjust to the medicine. Wegovy contains semaglutide, which works in ways that affect appetite and the movement of food through the stomach.
For adolescents, doses above 2.4mg once weekly are not recommended.
What the Trials Found at Each Stage
It is easy to see one large weight loss figure online and assume that everyone taking Wegovy will have the same result. Clinical trials give a more useful picture because the results can differ between groups and study designs.
In STEP 1, 1,961 adults were followed for 68 weeks while using semaglutide alongside a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity. Average weight loss was about 15 per cent. STEP 2 looked at people with type 2 diabetes and reported an average weight reduction of about 9.6 per cent. STEP 5 followed adults for two years and reported an average weight reduction of about 15.2 per cent at that point.
These results should not be treated as a personal prediction. The people taking part in each trial had different characteristics, and individual results can vary.
The more recent STEP UP trial looked at the 7.2mg dose in adults with obesity. After 72 weeks, average body weight had fallen by 18.7 per cent with 7.2mg, compared with 15.6 per cent with 2.4mg and 3.9 per cent with placebo. More people taking 7.2mg also reached larger weight loss milestones, including 25 per cent or more.
The SELECT cardiovascular outcomes trial also found a lower risk of major cardiovascular events in the studied group taking semaglutide compared with placebo. The reported relative risk reduction was 20 per cent in adults with overweight or obesity and established cardiovascular disease. This result came from a specific trial population and should not be taken to mean that the same result will apply to everyone using Wegovy.
The first few weeks are mainly about starting treatment and gradually increasing the dose. Some people may notice changes in appetite earlier than others, while others may not notice much difference at first. Weight loss can also vary from week to week.
The STEP 1 extension found that participants regained a substantial amount of the weight they had lost after stopping semaglutide. This is one reason it is important to talk to your prescriber before stopping treatment rather than changing your dose or treatment plan on your own.
Gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation and stomach pain are common with Wegovy. These effects can be more noticeable while the dose is being increased. If side effects are difficult to manage, speak with your prescriber rather than trying to change the dose yourself.
Is There a Wegovy Click Chart for Any Strength?
No. There is no official Wegovy click chart that should be used to work out a dose. This includes searches for a Wegovy 0.25mg click chart, Wegovy 0.5mg click chart, Wegovy 1mg click chart, Wegovy 1.7mg click chart, Wegovy 2.4mg click chart or Wegovy 7.2mg click chart.
The reason is simple. On the FlexTouch pens, you will hear a click each time you turn the dose selector. The clicks can sound different when you turn the selector forwards, backwards or past your dose. The patient leaflet specifically tells you not to set your dose by counting clicks.
Instead, turn the dose selector until the dose counter stops and shows your prescribed dose. The dose counter is what you should use to select the dose.
So, searches for a Wegovy clicks dosage chart 0.5mg pen, Wegovy clicks dosage chart 1mg pen, Wegovy click chart 0.5mg pen, Wegovy pen click chart or Wegovy pen clicks chart are looking for something the manufacturer does not provide.
What is the Wegovy 2.4mg dose per click?
There is no recommended amount of Wegovy per click. The clicks are part of the dose selector mechanism and should not be used to calculate how much medicine you are injecting.
If you are unsure whether you have selected 2.4mg correctly, check the dose counter on the pen. If you still have concerns, ask your pharmacist, nurse or prescriber to show you how to use your specific pen.
The 7.2mg Pen Works Differently
The 7.2mg dose is different from the standard FlexTouch doses. Depending on the device supplied, a 7.2mg dose can be given as one injection from a single use 7.2mg pen, or as three 2.4mg injections given one after another on the same day.
The single use 7.2mg pen has a pre set dose. There is no dose dial to turn or dose counter to use. You press the pen firmly against your skin and keep it in place until the yellow bar has stopped moving. The injection takes about 5 to 10 seconds.
If your prescribed 7.2mg dose is given as three 2.4mg injections, the injections should be given one after another on the same day. They can be given in the same general body area, but each injection should be at least 5cm apart. A new needle should be used for each injection. You may need more than one pen, so make sure you have enough medicine before you start.
This means a Wegovy 7.2mg click chart is not useful for either device.
Why People Look for a Click Chart
There are a couple of common reasons people search for click charts, and both have safer answers.
The first is wanting a smaller dose than the one prescribed, often because the next increase feels difficult to tolerate. Do not try to create a smaller dose by counting clicks. If you are having side effects, your prescriber may decide to delay the next dose increase or return to the previous dose until your symptoms improve.
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation and stomach pain are among the common gastrointestinal side effects reported with Wegovy. If these symptoms are severe, persistent or worrying you, speak with your healthcare professional rather than changing the dose yourself.
The second reason is wanting to get an extra dose from a pen. FlexTouch pens contain four doses. After the four doses have been given, there may still appear to be some solution in the pen, but the remaining amount is not enough for a full dose. The leaflet says to dispose of the pen rather than trying to use the remaining solution.
If the dose counter stops before it reaches your prescribed dose, this means there is not enough medicine left for a full dose. Use a new pen rather than trying to estimate the amount remaining.
If the Real Reason Is Cost or Side Effects
There is usually a practical reason behind a search for a click chart. Here is what to do instead.
| The situation | What people may try | What is more helpful |
|---|---|---|
| A dose increase feels difficult | Dialling a partial dose | Ask your prescriber whether you should stay at the current dose for longer or return to the previous dose |
| Treatment is becoming difficult to afford | Trying to make a pen last longer | Ask about other suitable treatment options and compare standard prices from legitimate providers |
| The next pen is delayed | Trying to use what is left in the old pen | Check the missed dose guidance and speak with your prescriber or pharmacist if you are unsure what to do |
| You are thinking about stopping treatment | Tapering by counting clicks | Talk to your prescriber about how and when to stop treatment |
Wegovy is usually taken once a week, preferably on the same day each week. If you miss a dose, you can take it as soon as possible if it is within 5 days of the scheduled dose. If more than 5 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take your next dose on the usual day. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed injection.
If you miss several doses, speak with your prescriber before restarting. A lower starting dose may need to be considered when treatment is restarted after several missed doses.
If cost is the main concern, it may be more useful to look at the wider range of weight loss treatment options rather than trying to stretch a pen. Different treatments have different prices, doses and ways of working, so your prescriber can help you decide what may be suitable.
How This Compares With Other Pens
Click counting is sometimes discussed with other injection pens, but the devices are not all designed in the same way. This is why advice about one medicine should not automatically be applied to another.
Wegovy FlexTouch pens for 0.25mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg use a dose selector and dose counter. The 7.2mg dose can be given using either a single use 7.2mg pen or three 2.4mg injections, depending on the device.
By contrast, Mounjaro treatment uses a different type of pen. Do not use dosing instructions from one medicine to work out a dose for another.
The safest approach is simple: use the pen according to its own patient leaflet and the instructions given by your prescriber, pharmacist or nurse.
Storage and Handling
Unopened Wegovy FlexTouch pens should be stored in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C. Do not freeze Wegovy or use a pen that has been frozen.
Once a FlexTouch pen is in use, it can be kept for up to 6 weeks when stored below 30°C or in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C, away from the cooling element. Keep the pen cap on to protect it from light.
Use a new needle for every injection and remove the needle after each use. Do not store the pen with the needle attached, as this can contribute to blocked needles, contamination, infection and inaccurate dosing.
If the solution looks cloudy or coloured, do not use the pen. If the pen appears damaged, has been frozen or has been stored incorrectly, speak with your pharmacist or healthcare professional before using it.
After the pen is empty, dispose of it as instructed by your doctor, nurse, pharmacist or local authority. If you experience a side effect, you can report it through the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
