Nizoral kills the fungus that causes dandruff, using the active ingredient ketoconazole, which is used to treat infections with fungi and yeasts.
Nizarol ketoconazole shampoo is used to treat skin conditions that are caused by infection with the yeast pityrosporum.
These include the skin infection pityriasis versicolor, as well as seborrhoeic dermatitis and dandruff, (which is considered to be a mild form of seborrhoeic dermatitis).
When used to treat dandruff, nizarol shampoo only needs to be used twice a week.
It has a thick, rich lather and leaves hair smelling clean and fresh.
So gentle that it can be used on color-treated, chemically processed and gray hair.
