Oral semaglutide is typically taken once daily on an empty stomach with a small sip of plain water, at least 30 minutes before the first food, drink, or other medicines of the day. Swallow the tablet whole — do not split, crush, or chew it. Your prescriber will advise on your starting dose and any dose adjustments. Do not change your dose without prescriber advice. Seek urgent medical attention if you experience severe or persistent abdominal pain (possible pancreatitis), signs of an allergic reaction, or symptoms of dehydration. Other reported effects include headache, tiredness, dizziness, and reduced appetite. Less common but more serious effects can include gallbladder problems, pancreatitis, and low blood sugar (particularly if taken with certain other medicines).
